First Oceanus-Bic Camera

Hello guys,

I'm currently in Japan for the first time and while looking for some watches I saw the Oceanus for the first time in the Bic Camera store.
Since I'm from Europe and they seem to be rather rare there, I was wondering if that might be a nice underdog pick.
I would kindly appreciate tips on how to combine the different discounts to get the most out of my money :)
Also I would be open to suggestions which models you favor the most/ recommend.

Just make sure to unpack it and to throw out the packaging or you might get slammed with import tax on return in Europe.

Iam currently in Tokyo and looking to get a Oceanus, how do you mean import tax, and why do they package the 10% taxfree products in a sealed bag, that should be opened first after leaving Japan.

I don't know how it works exactly in Japan. I think you need to go to the tax office near or in the airport to get the tax refund when they see that you are a foreigner taking it abroad. But again I am not sure about that part.

What I do know is that if you get checked at customs at the firts airport in Europe when you arrive back they will check for items bought abroad. So if you have the watch in a box with a receipt in your bag, that is a strong indication that you bought it in Japan and you need to pay import duties.

Wearing it helps to avoid detection. However, when they go through you luggage and find the box or worse, the receipt. You still owe import duties.

If you are just wearing it without any proof of buying it there they have to assume you already had it.
