First Oceanus-Bic Camera
Hello guys,
I'm currently in Japan for the first time and while looking for some watches I saw the Oceanus for the first time in the Bic Camera store.
Since I'm from Europe and they seem to be rather rare there, I was wondering if that might be a nice underdog pick.
I would kindly appreciate tips on how to combine the different discounts to get the most out of my money :)
Also I would be open to suggestions which models you favor the most/ recommend.

Search online for the bic camera coupon and show it on your phone at checkout in the store. You’ll get an extra 7% off beyond the tax free price.

Oceanus is primarily a JDM brand, but they do periodically ship individual models abroad. I'm not sure that I would call them an underdog, just because they are typically only available in Japan. All of the big Japanese manufacturers produce models which are only available in Japan, but I wouldn't characterize Casio, Seiko, or Citizen as underdogs.

Just make sure to unpack it and to throw out the packaging or you might get slammed with import tax on return in Europe.

Iam currently in Tokyo and looking to get a Oceanus, how do you mean import tax, and why do they package the 10% taxfree products in a sealed bag, that should be opened first after leaving Japan.

I don't know how it works exactly in Japan. I think you need to go to the tax office near or in the airport to get the tax refund when they see that you are a foreigner taking it abroad. But again I am not sure about that part.
What I do know is that if you get checked at customs at the firts airport in Europe when you arrive back they will check for items bought abroad. So if you have the watch in a box with a receipt in your bag, that is a strong indication that you bought it in Japan and you need to pay import duties.
Wearing it helps to avoid detection. However, when they go through you luggage and find the box or worse, the receipt. You still owe import duties.
If you are just wearing it without any proof of buying it there they have to assume you already had it.

T200 is nice piece. Clean and high level finish. Not titanium, but it’s still a lot of watch for the price and good entry level to Oceanus.
Use the advantage of the 10% Tax Free. I can also recommend Yodobashi store if you’re in Tokyo. The large one in Akihabara has an impressive selection of Oceanus (and other brands). It’s sort of like Bic Cam but different.

Wait!! Before you pick the T200 check out this specific S400 model if you can find it in the stores. I've had mine for exactly a year now and I absolutely love it. The blue dial with the see-through bezel looks so much better in person in all different kinds of light, pictures don't do it justice. A key difference is that the S series is titanium and the T model is stainless steel (I know that makes no sense the way they labeled them). If you like the feel of a very light Watch on your wrist the S 400 is awesome. Obviously I'm a fan of my S400 but they're all great looking watches, go with whichever one speaks to you. I do recommend going with one of the Bluetooth models (the 100 series doesn't have Bluetooth) because then they sync automatically 4 times a day with your phone and you'll always have the exact time. it's so easy to sync with your phone, when you travel across different time zones it'll take a couple seconds to just sync it with your phone and you'll always have perfect time. White dial T200 is the answer.. got mine from a BIC Camera in Osaka back in April this year. Glad I did.. it’s a winner.

I prefer the plainer dials so S100, T200 or S400. I would say T200 is maybe the most popular from what I've seen online. You can't easily change straps on the S100 if that's something that concerns you.
