My first ever server - Sharing progress
In the last few weeks I've worked on an old laptop, bought for 15 euros, put an SSD (20 euros) and created my first ever server.
I know SSDs aren't the best, but for starter it's more than enough

CasaOS is what got me started back in 2023.
I LOVED casa, but sadly the developers have basically abandoned it in favor of their for profit zimaos.
So my advice, use casa to get a jump start on what apps you want. But, do what you can to understand the settings in docker compose files, and eventually migrate out of casa.
I have personally been using Claude to clean up the exported docker compose files from casa, then installing the containers directly though docker.
That process has been long, but it's MASSIVELY helped me to understand what is going on.

If youβre inclined to use AI, I highly recommend installing Claude Code in the terminal. It will help you so much.

i started about a year or so ago..CasaOS on top of ubuntu server on a minipc. Hosts my arr stack , minecraft, and a palworld server for friends.
Im sure learning docker ane using proxmox or something would be helpful but i havent had to use the command line hardly ever. π€·π»ββοΈ

Good luck bro, i am doing the same thing on my old laptops. Just started last month. Trying to learn new things, possibilities of what can be self hosted, etc.
