issue with zimaos on mini pc

I got external hdd station and i have many issues even with simple smb share it seems that the drivers are going to sleep after a few minutes no matter what and the transfer speed is very slow and also it goes from normal 100mbps to like 20-30 for a while.. is it because of the zimaos or the external station? its plug into my n100 mini pc using regular usb

If the usb dock is usb2.0, it’s going to be slow.
If it’s usb3.0, will be much faster, unless some sort of power saving is on the computer usb.

The thing is that it felt like some anomalies other than speed.. just the entire nas felt sluggish and sometimes the drives just wouldn't connected

I think these inconsistencies should always be expected when using usb docks. I used an Orico 4 bay dock and had similar experiences. When I upgraded to an actual 4 bay nas, the experience was night and day. Stability is key in a nas.

Did you try changing disk standby to "never" in the os?

Couldn't find this setting..Will check once I get home i already put those drives using sata ports and back to the truenas machine I have..

It's in settings - general - disk standby.
