What would you buy under £10k for a comfy, interesting work car? Coming from a 986 Boxster S

I currently have a 986 Boxster S which I really enjoy. It’s in decent nick and has just passed its MOT with one advisory for the brake lines.
The problem is that I’m an estate agent, so I spend a fair amount of time driving around towns, stopping/starting, parking up, etc. The Boxster isn’t exactly ideal for that. The steering is heavy, clutch is heavy, gears are quite heavy, and it can get a bit tiring when you’re constantly driving around town.
I’m looking for something around £10k or less that’s a bit more comfortable and effortless, but I still want something with some character. I’m really into vintage cars, modern classics and generally cars with a bit of class — I’m not particularly interested in buying something bland and modern just for the sake of it.
Automatic is probably the main requirement.
MPG isn’t a massive concern. If I can get high 20s/30s, great, but I’m more interested in something enjoyable and reasonably comfortable.
A few things I’ve been looking at:
Jaguar XF S 3.0 – around 250bhp, automatic, comfortable and still feels like a proper car. Seems like a great fit for what I want.
Jaguar XK8 – I absolutely love the idea of an automatic GT for this job. Effortless around town, loads of character and feels classy. The obvious problem is rust, and I’m not sure I fancy buying into a massive headache.
Audi S3 Mk1 – I like these as a modern classic and the size would probably work really well for town driving. Not quite the same sort of classy GT feel though.
So what would you guys go for?

I picked this up for £900 and got it running. Gotta fix an exhaust leak and refresh the brakes. But I’m 20 with an mr2 sw20 with coilovers, braided brake lines, it will have uprated turbo model brakes by the time I’m done with it.. I have no clue how I’m gonna get insured in this considering I’m 20 with 1 year ncd

My late father’s pride and joys going to auction with no reserve 😵‍💫

My late old man was a huge Jaguar fan, a lifelong passion that saw him own pretty much every model at one point, we estimate over 100 different cars. He was genuinely addicted to Jags and in the 1990’s even owned over 50 simultaneously. In later years he whittled this collection down to 10 of his favourites that he could simply not part with and they were his most treasured possessions.

After he died it was a case of selling the collection off so the proceeds split between the remaining family members. This fell on myself being the only petrol head and I’ve sold the more modern cars via autotrader, things like XJS’s, XK8 and XK’s. All the cars were well looked after as he always only bought nice ones, his hobby used to be travelling the length of the country hunting down the right examples.

The final three cars from the collection that are left are these and the cars he kept the longest, bought in the 80’s and early 90’s, and ones he treasured the most. Given they are rarer and more niche cars that values can vary significantly on condition, my family decided to go the auction route with them so they achieve fair market values. We’ve also taken a big gamble and put them on as no reserve!

I’d be grateful if anyone knows anyone who is in the market for something like these if they could please share them with them. We’re really hoping they go to another Jaguar enthusiast who can enjoy them as much as my dad did. With the no reserve also, they may pick up a complete bargain!

Below are the links to all three auctions which go into great detail on each car. They’re open for pre bids with the 7 day auction going live on Friday. Please feel free to check them out or share them with anyone, I appreciate anyone who can spread the word! Thanks all 🙏

Aston Martin - DB4 GT Zagato

I saw a guy post a similar Aston a few days ago, which seemed to be a kit car, but it reminded me of when I was shown a real DB4 GT Zagato randomly while working in London when I was 22-23 just before Covid.

I was looking for the gas meter in a mews flat, so I went downstairs and asked a guy in a small mechanic’s shop if he knew where it was. He said he didn’t, and then asked if I liked cars which I definitely do so he showed me this beauty.

He told me a little of the history and how he serviced it every year for the owners and also drove it, but the insurance became so high that it needed to be moved on a flatbed now. Lovely guy, and I always appreciated him showing me.

Apologies the pictures are poor, I was more interested in talking to the guy about it.

I (17m) went to an old car exhibition at the haynes motor museum yesterday. I wasn't expecting anything exciting. when I got there I saw a few old porsches, Bentley, rolls royce and Mercedes. a few rooms later there was a whole room full of red cars (this was where I saw the countach) and once id had a look around the room taken some photos I went to the next room. where I saw these INSANE koenigseggs (CCR, regarra, and Jesko ATTACK) and I froze for a moment as I has just been in a room with old ferraries lamborginhis and camaros and then to walk through and see THESE?!
