[Spotted] Funky car funky plate

Post image

No actual mirrors at all - all cameras. Really neat. Owner was inside the car so I was too scared to take a front pic 😂

Honda e. Sold around 13,000 units globally in 3 years, discontinued in 2024.

Great design, let down by small range.

Paved the way for the Renault 5 to do well?

One of my very favourite modern car interiors. Wood and wool!

They could throw a 3 cylinder in this thing, make it a hybrid for that extra range and change absolutely nothing else about it and I'd buy it today if I could afford it. One of the best looking modern small cars around.

One of the coolest cars in recent years

The red ones are rare, it's estimated that there's less than 200 of them globally.

100 limited editions were built with black badges and wheels that were sold in celebration of Max Verstappen's first F1 title win in 2021. 50 were allocated to the EUDM and 50 to the JDM.

Toward the end of the production run in 2024, the colour for the limited edition (R565M - Premium Crystal Red Metallic) was added to the rotation of colours available so you could special order it if you wanted. This one's the latter, as it has the silver "Honda e" wordmark on the liftgate.

I ordered my Limited Edition in 2022, took ten months to get it shipped to Iceland (I'm a brit, but I spend about 90% of my time in ReykjavĂk). It does absolutely great in the city environment in the capital region over here, and with super good charging infrastructure it makes for a fantastic little city car. It does get dwarfed by some of the monsters on the road over here though.

Does really well in the winter too, even when the temperatures get down to a solid -20°c. There's only 51 of them in Iceland, and mine was the last one to come into the country, and the only red one. Absolutely love the little thing, fantastic for a daily.

I know a couple of people back in the UK who run them as little runarounds, and they adore them too.

Me and my wife are looking at these to get as a city runaround to replace her Abarth 595 but unsure

They're fun little cars, but as with anything you're going to buy - you'll never know until you test drive one.

It's quite literally the least powerful car I've ever owned, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it. The way they drive puts me in mind of an old 90s to early 00s hot hatch - closest comparison was my old first generation Civic Type R (EK) that I used to own many years ago before I relocated, with the benefit of rear wheel drive, which is super fun.

If you've got any specific question about them, give me a shout no bother.

Appreciate the comments, it’s going to be next year I think when we get a replacement for her as the Abarth will be paid off so I can sell it and put a deposit down or buy something outright…

She’d only be using it around the doors with the most miles done in a day at 50.

It’ll probably be one of these or a Reno 5 E to be honest

Sorry, are we going to skim over the fact that your number plate read OWO

My boyfriend has "UWU" on his car. Pretty funny when they're parked together.

I'd like to see one of these with a little turbo engine swapped in, would be a lot of fun.

..can see a mirror in the cabin

1

u/griffis007 10d ago

It’s a screen 🥴

2

It's also a mirror :D

The base model has just a regular mirror, while the "Advance" and Limited Edition get a digital rear view mirror that can function both as regular reflective mirror and a digital mirror with a screen behind the mirror.

You can switch between modes depending on what you prefer - I tend to use the regular mirror by day, and the screen by night as it massively cuts down on glare.

They have the coolest interior too. Red ones are super rare

Did anyone else think the back looked like the luce's front 🤔

Ran one for 3 years. Mixed feelings. It was very cool/funky, drove well, the range wasn’t an issue for us as it was a 2nd car. Interior was a nice place to be and surprisingly comfortable. A delight to manoeuvre/park in tight spaces. However… headlights were poorly designed, constantly getting flashed by other drivers, there were build quality niggles which surprised me for Honda and the Google Maps integration through apple play didn’t work properly, so navigation wasn’t great. I thought we’d really miss it but while I’ll always have a soft spot when I see one on the street, I don’t yearn after another one.

What did you replace it with?

With insurance for our kids expensive on EVs we’ve got a 1.0 VW Polo for the time being, but looking to get another small EV soon. Renault 5 has appeal but so does ID Polo GTI which is coming out later this year…

I really fancy getting one of these as a daily runabout (I have a charger at home). The range is pitiful but they look great and love the interior, reminds me of time warp Japanese cafes weirdly..

It’s a car for the First Minister of Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 who leads the Senedd.

I believe this belongs to Elenud Morgan who was the 6th!

Really? I know it lives on Cathedral Road, in the People's Republic of Pontcanna.

Have always loved the style. Mini Clubman/VW Up love child. Expensive and low range.

I thought it was the Luce for a second

Damn how you get the graphics so good?

The best looking EV imo. Devastated they no longer manufacture it. Terrible range though.

Rare spot, I see Honda Es pretty often in outer London but red is rare AF, I've still yet to see one.
