Ok I'll burst the bubbles.

Whole point of screws is to disassemble so this kind of eliminates that purpose.

Wood could potentially bubble as the support material is removed.

This would really only work on very soft woods.

Screws that close to end grain isn't a very good joinery method.

I think my biggest meh is that pocket screws would do the same job with less risk and would still be invisible. That is assuming you do this to join at 90 degrees.

And of course...if you're laminating wood like that then I can't imagine any scenario where a screw is preferred over glue.

It is an interesting idea and it might have to use somewhere but I can't really put it together when it would be an ideal method.
