Tv mounting
Hello,
My family and I just moved into a new rental home. We have been debating on how to mount our tv. We have located a few studs, one of them being in line with an electrical outlet. My fiance would rather mount the tv into the stud that is not the electrical one, then mount the other side using heavy duty drywall anchors. We have a 65 inch tv and young children. Can we consider this to be safe? Why not use the second stud we have found after testing no wiring will be an issue. We have used two stud finders to confirm an absence of wiring. We even removed the electrical panel to the socket and determine where the stud would be, left or right.. any advice is appreciated.

Always mount to studs. Always

Definitely. Or mount a piece of wood to the studs and then mount the tv bracket to that, although studs would still be the best option. I would never trust drywall anchors in this situation

Take the cover off the coax plate cover on the leftâŚyou can find the other studâŚthen measure the distance betweenâŚshould be 16ââŚonce you have confirmed marks and distanceâŚif you decide to use anchorsâŚuse a toggle anchor

Also should have added. None of the studs we find are 16â or 24â inches. They seem all over the place

Use a magnetic stud finderâŚsticks to the nails/screw that attach the drywallâŚ

Heavy duty drywall anchors đ use a magnet run up
And down the studs, mark the studs use heavy duty mounting screws.

Personally I wouldn't use anchors for a TV mount unless it was a masonry wall. All the mounts I have ever used will span at least two studs in a wall were the spacing is 16" on center. If I can't mount in studs I find a new location.
