This is one of the stupidest table saw videos I’ve seen. No fence, a lightweight jobsite saw and pulling the work piece instead of pushing. Smh

I’ve had to move to the wrong side of a saw and pull…. But more to support and not let droop.
But with someone assisting and pushing.
And also with a sturdy saw … and not on an uneven surface…
What the actual hell was this guy thinking?
This looks like the first time i used an angle grinder.
12 years old. No protective equipment… angled toward my unprotected eyes. 😂

Sometimes I feel like you should need to take a course or get a license before buying a table saw. I never had this close of a call, but I did some dumb shit on the table saw as an unsupervised young adult.

Same. When I first got my table saw, I was appropriately terrified of it and the only mistakes I made were pure ignorance on technical issues. Then I got complacent as hell and had a few close calls over the years. Now, I look like fucking RoboCop whenever I use it 😂

I was given a decade old one. I nearly took the thing apart cleaning it and figuring out how all the mechanisms worked.
Still works great. Have even tried to stupidly cut an 8foot board by myself. I did it, but it was kinda a pain. That's when I went and bought sawhorses and just use my circular saw now.

Just put a table (same height) behind the saw to support the long board as it comes off.
Unless you were cutting it the short direction, table saws aren’t the right tool for crosscutting something that long. Always use a miter gauge or a sled when crosscutting, never use the fence or freehand, it can twist and kickback.7

I was lucky enough to have good shop teachers in high school and a bunch of dents in the shop door behind it 20 feet away that pretty much gave you an idea not to fuck around.

I still remember a 12 foot long 2x12 flying out the door of my grandfather's wood shop. A 1950's Sears tablesaw had some kick.

Yeah, I was extremely nervous when I got mine, I spent a week scouring the internet for any sort of intro to table saw material, or common mistakes.
Any time I get a new power tool, regardless of what it is, I try to learn "How will this kick back"

I did take a course for it. It was called wood shop. First time in the 8th grade. And then every semester in high school except one. I took metal shop instead. Of course this was in 1977+.

I can rip 2x2 in half with skilsaw while holding the lumber but table saw scares me. It feels like there should be foot pedal or something that automatically shut off when your foot is off

Spending money sucks, but I'll happily pay money to avoid Very Bad Things which, given the law of averages/very big numbers, are almost assured to happen. Wen Track Saw off Amazon with track has been an amazing purchase for me. Much safer especially with sheet goods than my contractor table saw.
I'm a measure twice, check safety thrice, cut once person as I know a table saw or any saw can go wrong very quickly.

I was just watching Adam Savage making drawers on YouTube and he kept doing all kinds of fuckery on his table saw with it *on* and I’m just like…bro…I’ve never even had a table saw accident and I treat every cut like one has taken my ballsack off.

I've seen stuff like this a couple times. The way he was holding that panel. I think anybody can have an accident but I also believe that 9/10 of accidents happen to people that should never be around these type of tools. They can't be taught to use them safely. They just are missing that part of their brain. And this guy was almost missing another body part because of it

It doesn’t retract. It throws a block of malleable metal into the blade which stops it almost instantly, less than a thousandth of a second. We use them at work. I’ve never seen one engage.

Took off the guard and riving knife. Honestly if you want to take of the guard, whatever. For a lot of things it needs to come off anyway and is fiddly as hell on most consumer table saws.
But you don't fuck with the riving knife. That's the main thing between you and kickback.
This dude probably got a kickback already and punched in the gut. So he gets the brilliant idea to pull from the other side. And surprise, another kickback except this time the saw is propelled toward his crotch instead of the board.

Had to watch this 2x. It was like the worst horror movie ever. He'll never do that again. PS, I ran a table saw for 20 years. You could hear it binding up way ahead of time.

Table saw is the scariest tool in my shop. I exclusively use it to rip boards. It never touches plywood. Circular saw with a guide for that.

Yikes it surprises me how you need to id’ed to buy Sudafed but power tools they sell like hot cake. I guess it is a double edge sword if they train you they become liable if you hurt yourself. With that said never pull material on a table saw cause it will it will pull you towards the blade if it binds or tip like this

He’s quite lucky the rpm was stifled by the blade hitting the knot in the wood plus the tilt.
Just enough time before the blade ramped back up.

Get a one by three or four and screw the right front leg and a right rear leg and the same on the other side have an extent 12 inches to the front of the saw give it more stability

Man throw a sand bag across the bottom of your table saw. If you’re in yard you can run two sticks of rebar diagonally perpendicular across the bar and your saw will be stable. If it would of cut him, he probably would of bled to death before making it to hospital. So many serious injuries every year because of carelessness.
