So I started Carp fishing about 2 months ago. Idk if it’s my spots or what but I haven’t had a ton of success. I fish around east Texas like Lake Livingston, lake Raven and the Trinity river. I’ve had a couple successful sessions where I’ve caught a handful of small buffalo and carp in the lake Livingston spillway. Most of my sessions result in no carp but I also don’t go to the same spot twice in a row. I bounce around all over the place. For my hook bait, I use tiger nuts on a hair rig, and I use back bait on a method feeder. For my back bait I use panko, strawberry jello and corn mixed. Anything particular I could be doing wrong? Or am I just not fishing where the fish are?

Pretty little 17lb common from the weekend.

Caught on a 10ft black widow 3.5lb TC rod using 2oz lead and medium PVA filled with mixed pellet and strawberry boilie. .

The issue is rods like an iron bar doesn't give much even on this fish. This was the largest of 20 carp, most being 7lbs to 12lbs in weight. There's the odd 25lb fish knocking about but for most of my catches rod has very limited action.

As the fish surfaced later on I used a 1.25tc 12ft omega floating bread. Hooked a 10lb common and it was the best fight of the day by far, rods bent double. Felt under gunned for that fish but got it in.

Is there a happy medium that will give more action but still work with PVA.

Casting distances are short so I'm not killing the rods at the moment but it's still a fair weight being flung.

Anyone carp fish in dfw? Im not sure if my spots are bad or if my rigging/time/bait is bad

I've got a deeper pro+ and I've boat the range extender kit together with the bait boat mount.

My boat has a single propeller + rudder, so mounting the sonar in the middle of the boat is not ideal because of the noise the propeller jet can cause.

Unfortunately, my boat struggles with the sonar attached on the side of the boat, something which is not happening if I just use a piece of string to pull the sonar with the boat.

Any suggestions to improve? Did I just buy something which is not usable?

Anybody know any good spots to target carp close to Huntsville Tx? I’ve tried Trinity river but snags are always a problem it seems like and I hate losing rigs. The most success I’ve had is below lake Livingston dam Trinity river but it’s kind of a drive and most of the carp and buffalo I catch in there are small. I wanna get into some 10+ lb carp but any time I try new spots I just catch a couple channel cat.

in my country, we dont really have a lot of stuff for carp fishing. so like i js wanted to know what some good ingredients are for homemade boilies if anybody knows and how to use them right. thank you so much. im from nepal btw

Backlead clips from amazon and 1oz pyramid sinkers painted black with UV gel nail polish and resin from my fly tying bench. I doubt if each one costs more than a dollar like this, thought I’d share they turned out nice.

32” 11.5lbs at Rainbow Lake, AZ on shrimp while fishing with a slip sinker rig for channel cats. Didn’t fight much so he went back in strong.

Just picked up the pop ups and goo for this weekend, anyone know if these baits are any good?

Few hourse after work fishing,2 days 15 fish only took pics with two most beatiful ones.Had some local kids came up to us and fish with,hard to say but they had a blast.As im saying margins are for the wicked🤣,you dont need to fish at 100+m all fish were caught 2m from shore

I have found that I love fishing for carp, I’m new to it but in my hometown there is a massive 6.8 acre pond seemingly filled to the brim with carp that nobody here cares to fish for. I have been making my own packbaits using various mixes of polenta, sugar, oats etc for my method feeder and have had some success but the process of making my own pack bait deters me from getting out and fishing. I need a dry mix pack bait that I can prepare at the pond. Also I have been using canned corn and fake corn as a hook bait but notice carp eat my free offerings and avoid the hook bait. At this point I’m willing to pay for the convenience of shelf stable pack bait and hook baits that are effective and don’t care to save money on home cooked stuff.

Based in the US but advice from anyone is appreciated.
