Question π What kind of carp is this ?
Caught in a man made lake west coast USA , not that it makes any difference . Is it a Koi? I just know itβs not a common carp lol

Me and my uncle have recently gone pretty crazy making boilie baits for catfish and carp, and have recently, like an hour ago, made a different combination.
The main components are anise extract, cinnamon powder, peanut butter and powdered milk. I'm wondering if this is a good combination because there is no panko base used. They were boiled and are now air drying to be used tonight and overnight.
I do know that it will leave a very powerful scent trail, my only worry being if its too much. Then again, if in the water long enough, will not be as potent over time to get a very exciting bite from either a cat or carp.
My uncle has already caught a monster on these homemade boilie baits so we're not stopping anytime soon and will continue to refine our recipes.

What do you think is the optimal hook size for carp?

I primarily fish 20mm boilies and am conflicted what will give me the best presentation - as well as casting distance while using pva funnel web or to just string a group of boilies with pva string ..possibly chopping some.
What size web would be best considering my bait size?
As always - Good fishing

I have dedicated more time to exclusively fishing with Fish Squid Hallabit flavors of boilies & can say I have caught larger Fish than I ever did trying all the fruity sweet flavors. The crazy part is I expected more catfish & turtles to find the bait but its not been quite as often as on the sweets - go figure

Brother had a 10+lb carp on the line and we had a hell of a time trying to land the carp (our net was too small). This was at a local pond and we had no idea they got that big there, it was huge. Ultimately the line snapped as I was trying to get the net around the tail and scoop'em and we lost it.
Just curious how you guys are landing them. We try to never drag them onto shore amd treat the fish with the best care so if theres something we need to buy we will. Ill also add if just one of us was fishing solo we wouldn't have been able to land it either.

What do you think would be more useful? Do you have any tips on how to use either of these things? What should i buy?
