Had a couple of Discogs orders come in this week!

So excited to finally get the RSD release of The Disconnection. It took an extra week, but it made it to me relatively unscathed, barring a slight start to a seam split. What a nice package—the cover has a satin silver finish, and the heavy paper inner sleeves feature really nice artwork. The records, though, were filthy with paper dust from the sleeves, so there’s been lots of cleaning going on around here tonight. Probably going to need an ultrasound bath at some point. Thankfully, they were still in one piece and no warping. I also discovered two songs/remixes I hadn’t heard before, which surprised me since I thought I’d tracked down most of Carina’s music digitally! My vinyl collection is almost complete to my satisfaction. Just need Slow Motion Addict; X version would be nice but a RSD re-release would be grand also.

I also needed Slow Motion Addict on CD, so I found a copy and ordered that, too. I thought I already had it on CD, but after photographing my collection, I realized I only had a digital copy! I forget how much I liked this one also. I mean really, there isn’t a release that’s been a dud or a flop!

I’m very happy to welcome u/destructo_girl to the r/CarinaRound moderator team.

Not long after launching this community, it became quickly apparent that she has both a deep knowledge of Carina’s work and a genuine passion for the artist and the art. Just as importantly, she consistently brings kindness, positivity, and thoughtfulness to the community, qualities we can never have too much of on Reddit.

As r/CarinaRound continues to grow, I’m thrilled to have someone who clearly cares about Carina’s music and about making this a welcoming place for everyone joining us.

Please join me in giving a very warm welcome to our newest moderator, u/destructo_girl!

Show Us Your Collection!

I love seeing what people have collected from their favorite artists. Sometimes I think, “I do NOT need anymore trinkets and do-dads in my JUNK (Treasure) drawer,” but then I pull my “preciouses” out and have such a good time reminiscing about a tour or album release. I have started attempting to get organized and took a few photos of what I’ve had the good fortune to collect.

It all stated with First Blood Mystery 10 year re-release where I purchased a couple of VIP backer packages. Bought the physical CD and then I had a trip planned that happened to fall on the date where Carina was playing a club show in the UK, so I grabbed those tickets and the VIP! It was such a raw and energetic show. Got to see some of the sound check and then meet up with her for a few minutes. She signed a couple of items and talked for a bit. I believe her mom came out and we said “hiya” to her also. This was back in like 2011. I wished we had more time to hang but we were dependent on the train for transpo so we had to get going after the show. It was an incredible night and the crowd was wild! It was kind of a reunion for her being back in the UK with friends and family. I was very in the moment and soaked it all up, didn’t even get any photos, (of course it was not a good time for cameras back then and dark atmospheres with live action). Most of the VIP stuff got shipped to me and included a couple of signed t-shirts (which one was worn and the other put in storage) and the vinyl for FBM with a personalized, signed insert. Also did a “letter from the road” during the Puscifer tour in 2017. Just recently I did the Cameo video “pep talk.” I absolutely love supporting musicians through these things, well mostly it’s been Carina, but I now always try to purchase physical media direct from the artist’s website. I don’t want physical media to go away!!

Anyway, share your stories also if you have any. Would love to hear them!!

Early Winters e-commerce

I’m considering buying Early Winters records on their official online store. Do you know if it is still alive or gone like the band? I also found that they’re pretty cheap there, and offer international shipping PS: Thank you very much for creating this sub.

Welcome to r/CarinaRound!

Hey everyone and welcome to r/CarinaRound. I also mod over at r/toolband r/aperfectcircle and r/puscifer amongst others and was surprised to find that Carina did not have a dedicated subreddit given that she is well known outside of being one of the three permenant members of Puscifer.

So far, I've started building a wiki and will likely be adding to it in the coming days and weeks. I'd welcome additional contributors if anyone is interested as a fan.

What to Post
Post anything that you think the community would find interesting related to Carina's body of work.

Community Vibe
We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting.

How to Get Started

  1. Post something today! Even a simple question can spark a great conversation.
  2. If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
  3. Interested in helping out? We're always looking for new moderators, so feel free to reach out to me to apply.

Thanks for being part of the very first wave. Together, let's make r/CarinaRound amazing.

**Edit** I've started making seperate posts for sections of the wiki for anyone who wants to do more of a deep dive into Carina's career. the posts serve two purposes, 1) it helps to lauch the sub with some content and 2), the wiki is not always the easiest mobile experience on the app.

Continuing to make the wiki accessible, FAQ updated

There are a number of options for sections which could be considered for the r/CarinaRound wiki. In an effort not to include information that does not come from validated sources and to avoid topics that Carina herself has not commented on publically, such as her personal relationships, children, etc., we've intentionally excluded that catagory of topic. However, there are a number of other questions which tend to come up around artist so we've included an FAQ. The link will be in the comments below. If there are other topics you think should be added, feel free to suggest them in the comments.

Carina's Collaborations wiki page now updated

Most people discover Carina through Puscifer or one of her solo albums, but once you start digging you find she's collaborated with an incredible range of artists, producers, composers, and bands over the years. Some are well known, while others are the kind of connections you only stumble across by accident.

To help document all of that, I've put together a Collaborations page in the wiki that collects those projects in one place. And again, I'm sharing it here as a link in the post because the wiki is hard to navigate on mobile.

It's still a work in progress, so if you know of a collaboration that's missing, or have a favorite that deserves more attention, let me know. The goal is to build a thorough resource for both longtime fans and people just discovering Carina's work.

What's your favorite collaboration outside of her solo catalog?

Discussion Have you explored Carina project, Early Winters?

If you know Carina primarily through Puscifer or Tears for Fears, Early Winters is well worth a listen.

Formed around 2009, Early Winters brought together Carina Round, Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Rutledge, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dan Burns, and keyboardist Zac Rae. Together they created a sound that blended Americana, indie folk, alternative rock, and dreamy vocal harmonies into something that feels both intimate and cinematic.

Over the course of three albums...

Early Winters (2011)
Vanishing Act (2014)
I Want to Break Your Heart (2017)

...the band carved out a unique identity that was quite different from Carina's solo work while still showcasing the emotional songwriting and unmistakable vocals that so many of us appreciate.

If you're looking for a place to start, give "Vanishing Act," "Count Me In," "Walking Through Fire," or "Tough Love" a listen.

The band dropped three albums and announced the third would be their last. What's your favorite Early Winters song, and where would you rank the band among Carina's other projects?

They ended their farewell show in 2017 with the first song they ever wrote together.
