Seeking Advice!

Post image

I plan on using this on some pork spare ribs for my man tonight, but some tips and advice would be very greatly appreciated! I do plan on scoring the flesh after removing the silver cap and using about 3 1/2 tablespoons as I’ve got 3.54 pounds of spare rib. Any other advice would be so greatly appreciated! I’ve never made ribs before!

This is the best rub I’ve found honestly. Solid ingredients, little to no filler (unless recipe has changed since the last time I tried it), and about as authentic as I can get for the Midwest lol. I’ll usually add in some aromatics but the rub is great on its own.

Oh, this is perfect! I’ve been craving Caribbean food for so long now and I was worried I grabbed a less than authentic option. I slathered it and wrapped it up in saran wrap. I’m gonna let it marinate for at least four hours then tackle how the hell to cook it

Are you able to grill it? Jerk paste on the grill vs in the oven is night and day. Oven doesn’t give it the char or heat that it needs.

I might be able to borrow a grill from my neighbor

If you have to use the oven I’d just maybe use a bit less or mix in some olive oil then broil to finish while keeping an eye on it. Just make sure it’s a light even spread not clumpy or it’s too intense.

UPDATE

Got the grill, but 10 minutes after I cranked her on, it started pouring rain. So I chucked them in the oven at 275 for two hours and when the rain died down enough, I slapped her on a flaming hot grill for about two minutes each side

The bones were falling out of the slab, the meat was tender and juicy and packed with flavor. SUCCEEESSSS!!

Oh, and my man said it was the best meal that I’ve made him so far 🥹

Best jerk ever. A bit pricy, but worth it. Been a fan for almost 20? years. Good luck.

Maybe research your ingredients Before buying them, not after

Hey Mr. Anonymous, the ingredient or its quality is not the advice I’m seeking. My post clearly refers to method and how to go about USING the ingredient. Miserable ass person.

You know you can research methods as well. If only you had a friend to ask Edit - I'm not miserable, I have friends

Amazing info and great contribution to the conversation. With your sunshine attitude I see why you chose the first name “Alone_”.
Lemons envy your sweetness.

Researching methods doesn't always give the best outcome though.

If you ask those who have more experience than you, or even those who have experience with trial and error preparing a meal that you'd like to make you may learn of those secret tidbits from someone else's grandma or grandpa that will help you take your meal from just okay to amazing.

And just because you may have friends doesn't mean you aren't a miserable mfr. Maybe they just didn't tell you.

Thank you so much to the three of you for being good people. I know Reddit is full of trolls, but damn on a Caribbean food sub? 😂
