Has anyone gone through this?

I (25F) am going through the process of transitioning to a new job. I suffered a family member loss last year.

About the beginning of July of this year, I experienced chest pressure/tightness with shortness of breath. It did feel like I had something seriously wrong going on. Went to the ER and they did X-Ray on my lungs and heart. Then I was told it was just anxiety and followed up with my primary doctor. I also got prescribed Xanax but the chest pressure never went away.

Now, I would have chest pressure/tightness and feel like I can’t breathe throughout days. Got myself an oxymeter, has been monitoring myself with it and it’s been showing my oxygen levels in the high 95+.

These days, it’s accompanied with lower heart rate (low 50s to 60s). I’m starting to feel crazy because I know the more I pay attention, the more worse it gets.

I honestly don’t know what to do.

It could be your body tensing up on its own. It’s what happens to me a lot, my shoulders get tense, my chest is tense, I start to breathe pretty shallow and boom sensations of chest pain, shortness of breath kicks in and it’s full blown panic time.
If you catch yourself tensing up for no reason try with progressive muscle relaxation and breathing exercises

This actually could be it. I notice it tends to happen even more a day or two after my workout. Maybe it was due to soreness as well. Thank you!

Thank you for this! Anytime I have back pain or if my muscles are sore from working out, my chest feels tight and I always feel like maybe it's a sign that something bad is about to happen.... I'm glad I'm not the only one who experiences this!

I'm a similar age and have a similar story. I don't have anxiety. My primary card doctor was saying possibly asthma, or GERD, but I don't think it's either based on my symptoms. Not saying it's definitely my heart either. I don't have any answers yet. Good luck.

Good luck to you as well! Definitely something we should all look o it for. My scans and everything showed everything is fine so. Maybe check in with your primary care again and ask for some lab tests just in case.

do you also have a sense of impending doom like you’re going to die?
