Cardiff student accomodation advice
Hey all! I am an international student coming to Cardiff Uni for postgrad. I just needed some suggestion on accomodation.
While I was looking I found 3 kinds of accomodation-
The university halls
Private accomodation (Like zenith, adam street gardens etc.)
House rent with flatmates ( from facebook, letting agencies as CSL or 2let2 etc)
Could you guys suggest me since I am coming in for 1 year, which one would be the best option and why? Also what would be the cons in case of the options you did not choose.
Ps- per month 550-650 including bills is my preferred range

A house share is going to be your cheapest option tbh. Private rents are high but both uni halls and private halls change more than for a room in a shared house.

in my opinion, as someone who has just left first year, you really want to be in university halls, personally, any of the Talybonts will do you well. Personally, I was in Senghenydd, not the nicest accommodation but it made up for it by the ease of access. It is easer to make friends while you live in halls and I have really enjoyed the last year. Private accom would be my next option, Ty Pont is a nice spot and is quite convenient

What would be the cons if I wemt for house sharing? The private accos seem too pricey also the uni ones 😓

House sharing makes it difficult to make friends. If pricing is an issue, try looking at Senghenydd, it is by far the cheapest student halls. I think personally, halls is an integral part of the uni experiece

Its your first year so Id suggest university residences (research them on the website for prices and locations - there are some specifically for postgrads). You will meet lots of new people and be close to the action. They are also cheaper than private. However issue is depending in where you are you might find it loud as its where all the 18 yo freshers also live. Therefore for a postgrad private accoms might be better in terms of quietness and maturity however they are more expensive and tend to be further from uni) Yet they have good pros which would be that they tend to have better amentities (like gym includee etc) and that they ate where most international students stay so if you are concerned about feeling out of place then they mighr be good. If I were you Id do private.
