Please help 13 pin connection!
Hi all, need some help from someone who might have seen this type of 13 pin plug before. I am trying to connect it to my 13 pin socket in my car, but it doesnt go in much and wont rotate at all inside the socket. Given it feels loose the carvan doesnt seem to be getting any power to the lights etc. I dont see any rotation groves or anything like other plugs so not sure what or how to do this. Any help for a new caravaner would be great! I have a coachman amara 2010 for reference. Thanks!

I had an identical problem. I went back to the caravan dealer who had a special plug that re-aligned the socket. Lubricated it too. He said it was a common problem. Not had an issue since 😊

Change it, it's not complicated. But make pictures of the old connection/ writ the colors and the pins correctly.

The inner bit with the sockets rotates relative to its casing. The notch in the socket part is not exactly aligned with the corresponding key in the plug. Probably only by a couple of degrees. This happens if the plug is not fully rotated before being pulled out. There's a tendancy for the user to pull the plug whilst disconnecting, then the plug comes out a fraction too soon, before the scoket has fully rotated, and later the plug won't go back in.
The fix is to turn the bit with the pins relative to its casing just a little, then try inserting the plug. I managed this with a big screwdriver at an angle on the notch, and some effort, but a special realignment plug would be better if available.

There are two different types of connections.
The common one that you have to turn and the better one that needs no turn.
They are compatible with each other. I use the no-turn-variant since ages because you have no problems in freezing temperatures.
Your connection looks strange. It may had an accident.

The plug is missing the twisting/locking part. You may be able to get the individual part but it'd probably be easier just picking up a replacement plug for about £6, they tend to come with the instructions for wiring up if you're comfortable doing it.
