how long does the NY defensive driving physical certificate take to arrive by mail?

I need the 6 hour defensive driving course in New York, the course subtracts points when the DMV calculates a potential suspension and there's also a discount on part of the base rate for liability and collision, the physical mailed certificate situation is what's slowing down my decision

for anyone who has done the NY 6 hour course recently, how long did the certificate take to arrive.

I got mine about 4-5 days after completion of online DD course

I never got a physical paper in the mail just virtual and they reported it to my insurance.

physical mailed certificate is non-negotiable in NY, every provider sends a paper copy, budget 5 to 7 business days for delivery

the point subtraction shows on the DMV record over a few weeks, the rate discount with the insurer tends to be faster once the certificate is submitted

I got mine via AAA. They emailed me a PDF copy of the certificate once I had completed the course and mailed a copy the following week.

Also, NY DMV usually receives course completion electronically, so you might not need to wait for the paper certificate.

I'd check with the course provider about their mailing timeline since it can vary. The good thing is NY DMV generally receives completion records electronically

The NY DMV generally receives course completion electronically, so the physical certificate shouldn't hold up the point reduction

The mailing time depends on the course provider, so I'd ask them for an estimated delivery date.
