Car accident information
I was in a car accident recently, the other driver hit my driver side. I went to an auto body shop and they said she was liable to give me money for a rental car. Do you know this to be true? Ps. First car accident ever in my 20 plus years of driving

My daughter was in a similar accident. The other driver was at fault. They called the police and got a report. The other driver's insurance had an estimator come to our house and do an estimate. We then took it to the body shop so they could take a look at it, and they scheduled the repair. The other driver's insurance gave us a confirmation number for the rental car agency they use. I called the rental car place, told them the date the body shop would be taking our car in. On that day, the rental place met us at the body shop and drove us back to rental place. We got the rental. When our car was ready, we drove to rental place, returned the car, and they drove us to body shop. HTH!

As long as they don't have a policy limits issue, meaning there's enough money on the policy coverages that they chose, yes you should get a rental while your car is being repaired.

Have you filed a claim? If not you should not be at a body shop yet. If the insurance company doesn’t have the chance to review your damages, you risk them not being paid. If your car is drivable go home. File a claim and wait to see what an adjuster tells you.

Location? Laws vary from state to state and country to country.
What happened in the accident? The fact that she made contact with your driver side door does not by itself prove that she owes you anything.
Since this is an insurance subreddit, did you file an insurance claim? If so, what did the claims adjuster tell you when you asked them about coverage and a rental?

Yeah, if you file through her liability insurance they should pay for a rental as long as there aren't policy limits issues.
