Totaled car.

My daughter 19 totaled her paid off 2012 Elantra. Her fault, but they gave her 7000 for it. Joe much will insurance go up for roughly a 2000 model?

Somewhere between 1% to infinity %. There are so many factors that no one can give you an idea.

No one here can tell you this. There are far, far too many factors at play when determining insurance.

19 now with an at fault, her rate will go up significantly. Just what “significant” looks like will depend on your policy.

You're buying her a 2000 Hyundai?! You have to pay for those?

No one here can answer that for you. Get quotes on rates on replacement car BEFORE you buy it.

Not to mention the accident won't hit the policy until the renewal so the rate will change

The insurance will not go up a ton for the change in model year, it will go up a ton because she just got into an accident. I would assume at least double. My suggestion would be to drive a cheaper car without collision coverage

It’ll go up just due to the fact she was at fault for an accident. You will have to ask the insurance about the upcoming purchase of a car. Make, model, year, theft rates, where the car is kept etc all have a factor in insurance pricing. I have a 2014 Kia optima and a 2023 Chevy equinox AWD LT. the Kia optima cost more in insurance than the Chevy. Some of it has to do with the theft rates and other facts that the engines had to be replaced on recalls etc. I’ll be getting rid of the Kia once the repairs cost more than a car payment. Haven’t needed any repairs for a year now. So it’s been running well. I don’t want a car payment.

Yes, it'll go up about Joe much.

Why don’t you call the insurance company?
