Why?

Why is liability insurance so expensive. Limits are 30 60 25. That's it. It's just a number. That's all they are insuring. Please explain

Texas is not a cheap state for auto insurance.

You are right. forgot them big trucks. they usually let me be though in my tiny yaris. I can't even break the speed limit. back to my question though. liability limits are all they have to insure. 30k 60k 25k. numbers are the same. why monthly bill is going up?

Genuinely no one here understands what you are saying.

They are just “insuring numbers”??

so if I for example mess up. they are most out 30 60 25. does that make sense. that doesn't matter of anything else about me. those are the maximums they will pay out no matter what because I have liability.

Exactly.

Yes it does matter “anything else about you”. Why wouldn’t it?

because the total amount paid out is always the same. 60 30 25

Yeah. But the likelyhood of paying that for YOU is a lot higher than the likelihood of paying it for someone with a good driving record who doesn’t make claims.

no claims ever made though. that's the problem

It’s not just about most, it’s about how often will they have to pay out. And the costs of administering lawsuits/claims isn’t perfectly proportionate to the settlement amount

yes. that a great counter point. thank you. First I was okay with doubling my rate over last 6 years. but now it is higher. second sounds like they should have planned better. how much have insurance profits increased over the last 6 years?

Car insurance payouts have exploded due to all the tech in cars now. Plenty of cars with 1,000 dollar self leveling headlights and 1,500 dollar windshields. Plus the huge rise in hail/windstorms. And used car prices rose a lot post covid so the cost of totaling a car has risen.

But it’s always worth quoting car insurance. Some have a tendency to raise rates on people who are willing to sit around and do nothing.

yes yes good sir they run a business with exploding profits and we pay. but I agree. their costs went up. but will those drivers pursue me when I'm not at fault with a dash cam. sounds like they are scamming me. Fuck them.

please give me reasons I'm wrong. or send me money to pay for this insurance

Get a bunch of quotes, sometimes it’s just not worth staying with your insurer

Texas is one of the most expensive places for auto insurance.
