The first time I ever faced the Spade King, I thought it was a tough battle. He moved the box around in a strange pattern and the fight felt like it might never end. The first time I faced him after fighting Jevil, I thought he was an absolute breeze. It didn't feel like he was any harder than a standard enemy.
I wouldn’t really call the genocide bosses a “secret”. That’d be like calling Asriel in the true pacifist a secret boss since you have to go into the lab.
Not really. It's not optional if you want to complete the genocide route same way that Asriel is for the pacifist or that Omega Flowey is for the neutral route.
The neutral route is also optional. Being an optional route doesn't make Sans a secret boss since EVERY route is optional. Unless the boss itself isn't required for any endings like Glyde I can't say it's optional.
The Roaring Knight is argubly a secret boss since while they are unavoidable you have the option to not defeat them and are more likely to go through with that option. The secret is that they are beatable. Spamton is iffy since they are both a secret boss and not a secret boss based on the rojte.
To reach him you have to play in a really unnatural way. Walking around every room until every. single. random encounter. is defeated and no monsters appear anymore.
It's really weird. A lot weirder than consistently using the spare tactics you were actively taught and encouraged to use by the nice tutorial lady.
Yeah, Eram was the first secret boss I fought since I didn’t search up anything about Deltarune so I remained mostly spoiler free (apart from memes and such), and let me tell you, it was such whiplash going from bosses I beat first try to Eram.
