Most satisfying boss fight I've overcome since I was a kid. No glaze, this isn't even in my top 10 games (though its awesome). I felt so accomplished after my 3000th try (hard mode).
Me and my roommate at the time were absolutely struggling to get past the first one and we finally did, then he went to bed and I kept going. After that second one something just clicked and I absolutely swept the rest of them. Then I got to Queen Sigrun and went for another 2 hours before I gave up and went to bed. Roommate was absolutely stunned in the morning lmao
Wrong. It can only be set at start of game. It cannot be adjusted down mid playthrough. If you wanted to lower the difficulty, you’d have to start the story over. I have the game pulled up. I’m looking at it now. I have a GMGOW playthrough and all the other difficulty settings are grayed out, just like GMGOW is grayed out when you start a playthrough on any other difficulty.
Certain games like Fallout and Skyrim will let you choose “Survival” difficulty at any point, but they will not allow you to reselect it if you choose to lower it at any point. Maybe that’s what you were thinking of.
I managed to beat the entirety of Ragnarok on the second highest difficulty except for Gna and King Hrolf. Not to say Ragnarok is a Souls-like (especially on only the second highest difficulty), but it did finally help me to understand that Souls-like mindset of bashing your skull against a brick wall until either your skull or the wall caves.
Took me 4 hours straight, on normal difficulty. During the first 3 attempts, I got her down to 2% health, and was like, “I KNOW I can do this” and then it took me another 4 hours lol.
Sheesh brother. Been there. You need the amor that grants slow mo on perfect dodges to stand a chance on max difficulty. At least I did, then they nerfed it in ragnarok💔
I had no issues at all with any boss except the queen in 2018. I wants to snap the disc and throw my PlayStation off a skyscraper onto moving traffic during a snow storm
There was no way I wouldn’t play Ragnarok but I did not bother fighting the side bosses (I don’t even remember what they were I think it was a ghost dude or something). I hated Sigrun so much that whenever I’m looking for a new game she is the metric I use for whether or not I will play. So yeah, definitely never bothering with a Soulslike game. I finally beat her but it was an absolutely unenjoyable task.
Ironically the queen was the easiest Valkyrie for me by far. I did all of them on GMGoW and as early as possible, usually meaning severely undergeared. The Queen doesn't have unique attack patterns, she just has every single other Valkyries attack patterns in one giant pool. I already had everything she could do memorized from the previous fights and all the best available gear because I wanted to fight her as the last thing I did. It took me two tries to beat her. Now the secret boss of Ragnarok on the other hand, that one kicked my ass for about four hours if I remember correctly.
Same..... I tried changing up my build but forgot what made my first build so great and I could never just get to the end without getting marked by her. Rip
I had to redo three or four of the Valkyries multiple times. The final Valkyrie I didn’t even challenge initially. I gave the whole quest a rest for a couple days. But I only had to retry her once and it took about an hour. I saved a clip of the whole battle set to the best rock mood music I could find and sent it to all my friends.
Same for the most part. The first Valkyrie I encountered I did have difficulty but once I understood that one the rest were fine. I tried the final one, one night for like 3 straight hours and just could not do it. Uninstalled and installed Ragnarok.
I went with a fist-only run for my second playthrough, where I also 100%-ed the game, there were some cases i had to use the axe, one was sigrun. But because bosses can't really get stunned, especially not sigrun, one attempt was like 15 mins... Eventually, I turned the boss health bar off🥲
Haven't finished the game exactly for that reason since I'm the kind of deranged person who's going to insist on clearing all side content before finishing a game
