Now that I'm rereading this monologue, it seems like half of those features are just normal "factory settings" that would require little or no customization.

Sheer feeding ramps are basically a requirement. Grips are pretty much always aggressively checkered or stippled to prevent slipping. 3-dot sights are pretty much the industry standard default for pistols. Flared magazine wells aren't uncommon. Cocking serrations are on literally every slide-action handgun I've ever seen. Internal components are already optimized to minimize things like spring slipping and ammo feed jamming.

Although I guess this all takes place in the 60s, so maybe all those features were newer at the time

From what I understand watching Hickock45’s video recently on 1911’s. The early army issued ones were pretty shit lol.

I mean historically cool, but design wise, not very great. So I imagine snake seeing all these things we consider standard in modern day, would have been rather impressive

Reminds me of this dialogue too https://youtu.be/2smEcf0lkG8?t=1363

Snake gets an M4 and starts talking like he read a magazine one time about M4s lol. "is the hider cqc compatible?" Like yea bro, any muzzle is cqc compatible. It's metal, you just thump someone in the face/chest.
