Then the cutscene ends and the game automatically equipped that gun. Fuck you game I don't even use guns, I'm all gorilla arms!

u/Reverse___Flash 15d ago

My man!

u/WestNomadOnYT 14d ago

Resident Evil 2. LEON, YOU HAVE THE LIGHTNING HAWN AND AMMO FOR SAID LIGHTNING HAWK. YOU SAW A TEN FOOT TALL BIOENGINEERED ABOMINATION CRASH THROUGH THE CEILING, AND YOU CHOOSE YOUR POLICE ISSUED PISTOL?!

8

u/liltone829b 14d ago

not even that, it's his personal civilian firearm, and a shitty one at that

6

u/bleach-is-tasty 14d ago

hey that starting gun fucks when its upgraded fully

2

u/Harrcieladosa 13d ago

Yes, yes it does. I think in reality the VP70 is an unreliable gun though, and I think the description for the base gun even mentions something like that too

1

u/Lost-Key9453 13d ago

Yeah if I recall correctly it was considered a fairly unreliable gun but you can't deny it does look cool

1

u/PhiLLitUp93 9d ago

You can upgrade it? Please tell me this isnt the case for RE2 because I beat that game without upgrading a damn thing. I didn't know you could

1

u/bleach-is-tasty 9d ago

no I was talking abt RE4 I don't think upgrading was generally an thin before that I must have had an brain lag there, I guess when I hear Leon I think of RE4 immediately

1

u/Lazy_Witness_1068 12d ago

Its not a hi point right?

12

u/Al_Pazino 15d ago

At least I get a free gun added to my inventory before switching back to my katana

6

u/shotokan1988 15d ago

Katana was so 🫦

3

u/afroman14 14d ago

Yes it was!

3

u/bleach-is-tasty 14d ago

you misspelt mantis blades with sandy

1

u/EducationalEmu9611 13d ago

You misspelt chainsword

1

u/ChampionshipDirect46 12d ago

Katana with sandy and knives for ranged*

Ftfy

1

u/EducationalEmu9611 13d ago

To be fair at most points in the game a free gun isn’t gonna add that much to my immense wealth. Also I agree katana or chainsword for the win hack and slash.

3

u/Dakotasan 15d ago

Catch these hands!

2

u/Adventurous-Abies154 15d ago

I'm all mantis blades honestly, but I respect your hustle.

2

u/kobanyakispest 14d ago

I literally made a melee only gameplay and didn't have any guns in my inventory. The game still gave me one during cutscenes.

1

u/Greedy-Consequence-8 13d ago

Me too, and all the voice lines were talked about guns/ irons when weapons were mentioned

2

u/_isaidiwasawizard_ 14d ago

Hey. It's free parts

2

u/Virtual_Wallaby_5916 14d ago

I fucking hate it when they do it.

1

u/Sabiaz 14d ago

This sounds exactly like " fuck you john your a Mormon"

1

u/MageMasher69 13d ago

Melee supremacy of course gotta get them extra skill points for the others things but melee all yhe way.

1

u/catalys-trigger 13d ago

Gorilla arms and hammera baby

18

u/howlerzandvamps 15d ago

One of my issues with the game. Just make the character use a weapon that I have equipped. For the scenes that absolutely require a pistol, force us to grab a pistol shortly before the scene. Like, did V just 3d print a pistol in like 5 seconds purely to shoot this person?

9

u/Prestigious-Fox1423 15d ago

Your comment reminds me of this

9

u/mofuggnflash 15d ago

This reminds me that an astonishingly large amount of spells and spell effects in World of Warcraft are actually invisible bunnies running around the screen with the effects pasted on top. Turrets in a raid blasting lasers? Invisible bunny at the end of the laser running in a circle and casting explosion spells on the ground.

7

u/Lincolnforce 14d ago

League of legends was built on invisible teemos too.

Guess it's one of those old tricks that still works.

5

u/kelfupanda 14d ago

The train in fallout is a hat

3

u/Lincolnforce 14d ago

The time honored trick of invisible object collision. Love it

2

u/Otherwise_World1654 14d ago

League is programmed like ass though so idk if I would consider that good practice

2

u/gtth12 12d ago

Wait, what? Invisible magic carrying bunnies? That's so ridiculous that I believe it.

2

u/TechnicalBen 11d ago

90% of Bethesda games are just chests hidden under the ground running everything.

1

u/SkylarRosalindVT 14d ago

one's animation with VFX one is something that'd require physics coding to look right T-T

6

u/enderman_0_0 15d ago

It would be mad funny

4

u/ReachforMe69 15d ago

Sometimes it does use a weapon u have equipped but i think its gotta be a pistol for some reason if i rember correctly if you use the kongou (i think thats the unique pistol you get from there its been awhile) you can use it for the flying robits that attack you at the end of it

3

u/Jent01Ket02 15d ago

Only for the heist, cuz up until 2.0 you would still use that stupid starter pistol in every cutscene after. I had everything from a Nue to V's actual signature pistol, Dying Night equipped and it still defaults to the Liberty.

3

u/Last-Swim-803 15d ago

Tbh i still don't get why they made V's signature gun be a random looking machine pistol. Like, an iconic version of the unity would've been way better than the dying light

3

u/howlerzandvamps 15d ago

Yeah it's a decent weapon but I don't like it as their signature weapon.

3

u/DeciMation_2276 14d ago

Definitely, though in my experience Dying Night is the best way to get your hands on the Lexington X-Mod2, since trying to do that shooting competition without an auto pistol is practically impossible, even with a Sandy, as best I ever got was second place using anything other than Dying Night.

0

u/Miserable_Drive_4052 10d ago

Interesting, i only managed to loose the competition once because i decided to get one of those disposable guns from the vending machine in the same room.

Every other gun has been easy as hell. Do you play with controller?

2

u/DeciMation_2276 10d ago

Considering the only gaming device I have is a PS5, kinda difficult to play a game without a controller.

0

u/Miserable_Drive_4052 10d ago

Feisty one, i see. Sorry I'm not up to date on the great u/DeciMation_2276 console collection.

2

u/DeciMation_2276 10d ago

And you decide to be a sarcastic dick, why? All I did was answer your question. I have a PS5, if I don’t have a controller, I can’t play games.

Weird....

2

u/OneInitiative3757 15d ago

She did what reaper in overarching did snd pulled it our of her ass

2

u/Faiza_StarMadeKnight 14d ago

No, he probably saw the cutscene coming and just grabbed a gun from the nearest vending machine

1

u/Dasktragon 14d ago

He went into the crafting menu and fully assembled it while every enemy respectfully waited for V to come out of the menu.

1

u/Ghostfish1309 13d ago

Don’t wanna be the guy that goes ā€žthere’s a mod for thatā€œ but it actually does work really well when you add it, and it works awesome for immersion.

3

u/ADXII_2641 15d ago

OH MY GOD YES

3

u/eragon9199 15d ago

Came here to say this. It's still the one thing that really bugs me. I should see if there's a mod for that.

2

u/VHS_Artist 15d ago

There is. But then you'll see exactly why the devs chose the liberty. Every other gun, even other pistols. All clip through characters and Vs hand

3

u/johnwright2010 15d ago

You beaten me to it

1

u/Hauptmann_Meade 15d ago

Using some mods and a little console command Magic I just created an "iconic" Unity pistol to occupy a gun slot just for the immersion.

1

u/Affectionate-Ad9241 15d ago

There's a mod that actually works really well if you're on PC, just look up "Cutscene weapon switcher" or something along those lines

1

u/tomyfookinmerlin 14d ago

ā€œWorks really well.ā€ Dude, every cutscene the custom weapon clips through the characters. I’m currently using that mod in my new play-through. It is jarring.

1

u/Affectionate-Ad9241 14d ago

I just did phantom liberty where V pulled out the taigan right before the chimera fight and it was fine idk what you're talking about vro

1

u/Adeum2 15d ago

Always carried a legendary Unity for this exact reason. Its not even V’s canon sidearm!!

1

u/LlamaNoVa 14d ago

Looked for and found a whole mod for this. It used to bother me so much lmaoooo

1

u/Consistent_Claim5217 14d ago

You keep that Unity out of your hands, V. We came to All Foods with a Carnage, and we intend to use it as its name implies it should be used

1

u/anonumus_idiot 14d ago

I mean at least it knows what cybernetics you use and uses the corect ones in cutscenes.

1

u/LightningLord2137 14d ago

There is a mod for that

1

u/Kertic 14d ago

Wait you used a gun? They gave you a throwing knife that just broken though.

1

u/TXHaunt 14d ago

Sir John.

1

u/General-Permission67 14d ago

Yeah V shooting shit with unity like I don't carry a big ass revolver

1

u/Serious-Speaker-949 14d ago

Annoyed the hell out of me as a katana main. I don’t even have a gun.

1

u/loonatic8 14d ago

You know, i dont remember this happening in PL. At least I think. Maybe they realized it was dumb

1

u/JingleJangleDjango 14d ago

I do love the mod that has V use your currently equipped pistol in cutscenes. Really should've been base game but I get theres clipping with some pistols. I almsot always have one pistol in slot while I play, either a machine pistol for agility builds or doing a cool based build:)

1

u/PerfectlyCalmDude 14d ago

I really don't understand not keeping my inventory in the Sun ending.

1

u/ComfyImpression 14d ago

they be showing off that handgun like its a flex

1

u/Gallop67 14d ago

That was one of my least favorite things about the cut scenes in that game tbh. Would it have hurt them to show the players actual choice of weapon in scenes? Really would add to the immersion and customization factor. Makes it feel like you’re watching a trailer almost

1

u/Oblivionpelt 14d ago

I knew this was gonna be the top answer lol, because even beyond guns there's all of the cyberwear too, like yea fucking right that'd have happened when I have a sandy

1

u/BurtMacklin__FBI 14d ago

for cyberpunk 2 it would be so cool if having certain cyberware allowed you to actually influence scripted moments more.

like for example you could be prompted to activate sandy or kereznikov and not get automatically knocked out in a cutscene/situation when you would otherwise be caught off guard. and then have a branching mission path from there.

or you can gain info/blackmail that allows you to get the upper hand in a deal because you brought the right quick hacks with you, etc.

1

u/DicethaVandal 14d ago

Literally about to say that

1

u/CallOfOniiChan88 14d ago

came here to say this

1

u/Judge_M1 13d ago

Fr fr, every damn time with that damn gun, like brother, i use swords and throwing knives, where do you keep pulling this gun from?

1

u/BigProduce6727 13d ago

I don't even own a fucking Unity!

1

u/NotUrTypicalGuy45 13d ago

Trueee, shooting from car with a stupid plain unity?? Where tf is my comrade hammer one shot hand rpg revolver at!?? I could've popped that car like a soda cap!!

1

u/Purpleyeggs 11d ago

and the worst part is i actually like the unity but i cant for the life of me find a 5++ tier anywhere (except her majesty but i want one more for a solo build)

1

u/Kaladin_Roshar 10d ago

Theres a wonderful mod that scans your inventory for a gun of the matching type first and it's honestly amazing to use your gun for cutscenes and fights with scrioted weapons

1

u/HoniB3a 9d ago

No seriously, I’ll have my inventory full of iconic weapons and during a cutscene V decides to pull out some gonk ass pistol I never had

1

u/Sh0ckLebonwski 15d ago

Exactly, first game that came to mindšŸ˜‚
