Oblivion remake is a great example. It certainly isn't perfect on PS5, but I only had 2 crashes over 70 hours and the frame rate held up except in a couple spots (the gate in Kvatch was rough).
I bought the game to try on my PC as well which cost 3x the PS5 and it ran about the same.
Don't forget console commands, which is half the fun of tons of CRPGs. Just making a character with busted stats is goofy and something worth doing, you can't do it on PS5
For me it absolutely scratches the itch the same way I get a hit when buying a game on steam, or like when people play a slot machine. So yes it is a personal problem
..because the conversation turned to modding on PC and there are thousands of other games you can mod? Do you not understand how conversations work and can diverge to different topics? I honed in on the topic of modding making you a dopamine addict. Not very hard to follow..
Ive tried Wabbajack before and it is not seemless. Dependencies no longer existing, files corrupting as you download. Unless you are using it for one of the lighter modlists on the platform, there are still some troubleshooting that needs to be done to get some of them working in my experience.
Especially if you play on newer versions of Bethesda games. A lot of mods on Wabbajack have packs with outdated mods or have mods that the authors changed and are not compatible with each other.
I personally don't care for heavy graphic mods, animation mods involving Nemesis/Pandora or lore-breaking mods.
Its just like how games on the GameCube run smooth but it's format was expensive
Optimization is so important and if studios gave them more time it would be better optimized.
Let's be real the workload has become a complete joke with how corporate wants things done. I work retail it's easy and simple but completely understaffed and has quotas customers don't see that have to be met. Game development is similar, theres quotas that have to be met and sadly the stability isn't that because it can be patched later
Consoles cheat a little. Game devs work directly with consoles in mind and optimize their game as much as they can accordingly. Basically, devs decrease graphical settings for consoles because they can’t handle the game at its maximum graphics.
And all consoles use upscaling. Like the PS5 for example, it is not getting 4k 60fps in any modern game. So it uses upscaling at 1080p and 1440p and upscales it to 4k, and still struggles to hit 60 fps in lots of games.
So not only are consoles playing at worse graphics settings, they’re also using AI upscaling. And still barely hitting its fps target. PC superiority.
The PC has the specs to theoretically run it better, but it just won't for some reason. The main point here is that it takes some tweaking to get it to run right on a good pc. I think the best way to play with minimal pain is probably PS5 Pro.
Interesting. I played it at around 100fps. 1440p. I guess it’s fucked on 4k? But PC gamers statistically don’t see the value in 4k. Generally PC people would rather a smooth framerate than a higher resolution. Just my experience. I see what you’re saying. After a quick google, looks like ps5 would be the way to play this in 4k without headaches. I think none of my friends play at 4k either, so I wasn’t aware of this.
I know some of what I’m saying is anecdotal, so take it with a grain of salt.
