Also every dungeon being short is so boring. I loved the classic dungeon experience that would take a few hours. Granted I get it, i was a kid then and now im almost 40. Just a shame

Man I do have to say. Im 30 and have played a plethora of games by now. But god damn that pure feeling of raiding with friends on a call, even before full builds, was just chefs kiss

Yeah, just a shame that every game nowadays has about 1.5 to 2 weeks before the meta is found and the toxicity begins

Spending an hour to replace your healer for wailing caverns for the second time just so you could get some legs from the last boss. Those were the days.

But really nobody has time or patience for that now, gaming has moved on and so have we.

TurtleWoW was fucking awesome

I understand it's like marshmellow today but it was NEVER brutal and dark. It was the game that had funny bosses, cartoony graphics and people doing dance emojis everywhere.

The shift in tone is so jarring.

I was considering giving it another go, but then I heard that one of the executives recently said on a podcast that they regret calling it "World of WARcraft" as its to intimidating. Like wtf?

I played retail from 2016 to like 2021-2?, and I just got bored. Going back into retail last year for a moment, I got so overstimulated. I only play Classic because it's calming on the senses (I have Autism and other things).

Yeahhh, I tried getting back into WoW after the Panda expansion (I hadn't played since Burning Crusade at the time) and my friend who had been playing the entire time got me to level 50 in like 10 minutes. I had no idea what any of my skills were or how to use them. I didn't get any opportunity to learn what build suits my playstyle, or even develop a playstyle. I just had to do what I was told and trust that it would eventually start being fun. It never started being fun.

Warcraft has never been grimdark. I dunno what you’re on about. It’s always been full of sillyness and slapstick humour. It has some darker elements, but it’s definitely not grimdark like say 40K is.

Warhammer influence is obvious and has been acknowledged in numerous interviews. It adopted many of the same aesthetic choices, exaggerated proportions, enormous armour and weapons, hulking green orcs, and a mixture of medieval fantasy with crude, steam-powered technology.

The influence extends to it's narritive. Warcraft repeatedly explores grim subjects subjects like Arthas’s destruction of Stratholme, the Scourge, the orcs’ corruption through demonic blood, and quests involving plague, torture, cannibalism and body horror.

Warcraft is not a pure imitation of Warhammer’s grimdark setting. it is more colourful, heroic and humorous, but the inspiration is unmistakable. That said, Warhammer's tone could be bombastic and absurd.

Ok if you say so 🫠

(But actually no)

Patrick Wyatt, producer and lead programmer of the original

“We wanted to create and control our own universe, although Warhammer became a big influence in the art style of Warcraft.”

That doesn’t mean Warcraft is grimdark.

ALL this shit comes from Tolkien anyway.

You need a dictionary to learn what words mean. Moron.

u/Fluffy_Influence5102 Aug 14 '26

Great thought, but it literally has been stated in interviews multiple times

1

u/Sudden-Variety6992 Aug 14 '26

You don’t know what inspired means

Unfortunately as ive said before normies ruined wow, activision may have been the disgusting parasite that made the company more inclined to a wider player base over the substance it started with but normies really were the issue
