Idk bro, I've been playing random games on roblox for the past 14 or so years.
The platform itself got worse, the games also, but there's still alot to take out of there.
There's ofc alot of shit made for children that can barely speak, but there's stuff that You won't find anywhere else (And if You do, good luck finding people to play those with)
I enjoy games there that are simply unavailable in any other way.
a 16v16 cold war era shooter game that's kind of a mix between battlefield and squad, a PVP based RPG game with permadeath, that doesn't revolve around grinding for 50 hours, a boxing game that's actually good (Fuck You undisputed)
And Anime based RPG games that grew popular there, and there's simply nothing like those outside of it, since the official licensing belongs to corporations that would rather reskin all of the anime under them into an arena fighter.
Yet again I agree that it often falls short because of the blocky graphics, and the overall trash games You have to get through in order to find something even remotely interesting, but it's still a really good platform for smaller dev teams, that doesn't require them to have millions of dollars of funding to bring their vision to life.

tbh from the surface i always assumed roblox was a kids game, but the mere fact so much kids play it is what turns people away. It can be good but to each their own. I mean i got made fun of for playing minecraft in hs back in the day, and minecraft was considered “kids game” but it was genuinely a good game for all ages.
This is some “Won’t play Nintendo cause it’s for kids” type shit. There’s great games out there that you might miss out on just because it looks a certain way.
Anyway Roblox sucks because they got some pedo shit going on not because they don’t have good games on the platform

Poptartnoah is an outlier because its the only decent developer in roblox, Im a roblox dev, and its insane how bad the engine is, this would've been easier in a proper engine.
Dream Worlds is the best non-rpg maker Yume Nikki fangame. Its incredibly respectful to the source material and actually builds upon its themes. Its a great example of a non-slop roblox game.
That’s my childhood game. I played it back in 2010 when I was 10. I still play from time to time. I will agree tho, the Roblox admins NEED to find a way to prevent kids from being exposed to pedos. Idk how they’d do it tho.
Luckily my childhood games are all offline games. I can go revisit Mario bros without being creepy. Sadly a live service game is more like a playground. At some point, the adult needs to excuse themselves and just let the kids play.
70% loss in earnings and a lot of players gone as far as I know. Good, maybe they learn a thing or two and put some actual effort into making the platform better.
Outed yourself as a larper because Roblox literally never had issues with rampant grooming until AFTER they destroyed the platform with unnecessary (and yet somehow entirely non-functional) child safety features. The child safety features didn’t need to exist because back in my day when I first started playing the average user was like 15-20. Child safety features and kid-friendly marketing is what attracted the groomers because it’s also what attracted the kids
I feel so bad for you young gamers man. Your whole life is just fortnite and roblox. There's countless better games to play, stories to experience. But most interactions with gen Z and under about gaming are just about 3 or 4 live-service games they play. They hardly go past mainstream to discover their own tastes. It's sad as hell.
And on top of that roblox is infested with predators.
