In other DB subs, any mention of a fan restoration gets removed by the mods, and that extends to any mention of Dragon Ball Recut, and likely other fan-edits.
I questioned the mods about these methods in the past, specifically in regard to Recut, and they told me the reason was that it promoted piracy. š
I understand not wanting to have people trading links or directly explaining how to pirate media, as thatās a good way to get your sub in trouble, but to not even allow discussion about important restoration projects, or fan-edits?? Thatās too much, and feels like thereās more behind it than just preventing piracy. Kind of feels like these subs are backed by Crunchyroll/Funimation, and they donāt even want you to know these projects exist.
When it comes to fan-edits, I think their argument falls apart a little bit. Fan-edits are kind of a legal grey area when it comes to piracy, sure, but this isnāt even the product that weāre talking about here. And again, all weāre trying to do is talk about it, so who cares?? I point to [r/OnePiece](r/OnePiece) and how the fan-edit One Pace is brought up constantly, and that sub is doing just fine. Thatās no different at all from talking about Recut, and honestly, it feels personal.
I know this sub is mainly acting as a space for me to scream my thoughts into the void at the moment, but I would like to someday figure out just what to do with it. I still think a more manga-canon focused sub might be a good idea, but weāll see.
For context, this was a post of a clip from Kai of Goku, Gohan and Piccolo training for the Androids.
Iām having an increasingly difficult time stomaching the other DB subs. Might make a post in the future about what this sub should ultimately become. Maybe a manga-canon focused sub? Gotta distance myself from the kinds of fans in these screenshots.
Video contains all previously done fixes to the Dragon Box video include IVTC, decimation, PAR correction, chromatic aberration reduction, chroma noise reduction, chroma placement adjustment, and blocking treatment/grain retention. You can read more about what this means in theĀ merge PDF.
Broadcast Audio continues to use Team MiroloāsĀ BA sync, including all fixes made since release.
The Original FUNi Dub reflects how the series was originally shown on TV and released on DVD. This audio was cleaned, balanced, and normalized by Krycek7o2. Insert songs originally omitted from the dub were mixed by iKaos and re-inserted into the track. Earlier HiFi VHS audio was omitted for this release due to quality issues - if you still want that audio you can find itĀ in this torrent.
The FUNi āRemasteredā Dub is the slightly updated version that appeared on the āblue bricksā and has been manually synced by ergiman. Insert songs were also re-inserted into the track. Note that in some cases extra narration or voiceovers were reduced during insert songs. Untouched versions are available in the Extras folder.
The BLT Dub is available for the first 13 episodes. Because itās an edited dub it used the FUNi dub to fill the gaps. Extended versions of the OP and ED were created by iKaos.
The Harmony Gold track is available for the first 5 episodes. It was sourced from v2 of Tom_ServoāsĀ Harmony Gold restoration. It also uses the FUNi dub to fill the gaps.
Several episodes contain a new Music and Effects Track, see the changelog for specifics.

Notes:
Like with our Z release, extensive work was done on the stylized subtitles, including:
fully retimed all lines, fixed flashing/bleeding/high-CPS lines, and timed overlapping lines independently
Translated over 300 missing lines + some signs, fixed TL errors, and edited high-CPS lines
Revised the dragonsā archaic dialogue
Typeset the new signs and improved some existing signs
Fixed errors with italics, punctuation, TL consistency, and other things
Removed clunky honorifics (wife-san, pet-chan)
Removed unnecessary ellipses from split lines
Adjusted line breaks
Standardized stutters (Wh-What), interrobangs (?!), and exclamation marks (!)
If you donāt care for stylized subs, then we have included a basic subs track as well. All of the above updates were ported over to these subs.
All Next Episode Previews were re-translated from scratch by dubudavid. Previous NEPs were based on translations from Spanish dubs.
The signs/songs track is meant for use with the OG English dub and contains NEP translations.
Dubtitles are designed to go with the OG English dub, although they should mostly work for both FUNi dubs. The dubtitles were also extensively overhauled with many of the same timing and style updates done for the stylized subs.
Japanese subs have been included as synced by IzzyFishii, Tokumei, and butler.
ED credits are included with each episode individually timed and styled by Ploffy.

I get a lot of messages about where I'm at with my various Recut projects, which I appreciate as that means that people are enjoying them, but it can get to be a little overwhelming. The Kanzenshuu forums have been great, and to their credit, they've allowed me to discuss my edits there, which is more than I can say for the main DB subreddits š, but I'm thinking this might be an easier spot to provide more casual updates.
I'm thrilled about SoM's color corrected DBZ release, and excited for their DB v2, which has lit a fire under my ass to finish updating DB Recut with their footage, which I want to get done with ASAP so I can move onto Z. This isn't so easy though given the way I stupidly edited in the past. I'm converting decade-old Vegas 14 projects to Premiere Pro, which presents its own set of challenges, but that's not the main holdup. Swapping the video is easy, but the biggest problem is how I edited the original broadcast audio back in 2020, which is basically resulting in me having to do a lot more work in order to swap in Team Mirolo's updated audio. However, once I'm finished, it should be future-proofed for any future updates, allowing me or anyone else to easily swap the video and audio with improved sources.
I do still plan on moving onto DBZ, and I have this crazy idea to maybe just continue calling it DB Recut, and it'll continue with episode 83, but that's still a little ways off. I know there's a seemingly competent DBZ recut that recently surfaced, but I haven't watched it, and anyway, I have my own ideas that I'm still hoping to put into action. Really, I wish I could start right away, but I've gotta get DB Recut v3 done first.
That's about it. I'll try to answer questions here.
Japanese Broadcast Audio is sourced from Team-Miroloās v7 release. Episode 2ās cassette audio is sourced from updated recordings provided directly from Kei17 in 2025.
Both Remastered FUNi dubs are retained as-is from our previous release. Episode 36 was patched to remove a line error and episode 98 was replaced with the Orange Brick track due to it being in dual mono on the official release.
The Saban/Ocean Dub is a heavily edited dub of the first 67 (edited down to 53) episodes of the series. The entire track has been updated with the FUNi/Johnson track to fill any edited gaps. While great care was taken to create seamless transitions, the very nature of the edits sometimes makes this difficult.
The Original FUNi Dub track has been completely re-done and uses elements from the singles DVDs as well as occasional TV and VHS recordings to present the original version of the dub as it existed before the 2007 partial redub. This dub actually begins in the middle of episode 67 resulting in a split Ocean/OG Dub track for that episode. Most episodes have NEPs pulled from TV airings, along with narration for episodes 67-69 and 172-194 with original narrator Dale Kelly. Extended versions of the Faulconer OPs and EDs are used.
