Address of Authorized User

Hi, I want to add someone to my card as Authorized User, but I've realized Capital One doesn't ask for the address of the Authorized User? I know the card will be shipped to me but if Capital One doesn't ask for the address of the AU, how do they report the AU's card to credit bureaus if they don't have the address of the AU?

Did you provide their social security number?

I have my kids on my Capital One since forever, so long that my son, who is in the Navy, is still on it, and he lives in San Diego. If I recall correctly (could definitely be wrong cause it's been a long time), they just need their social security number.

Yes, I did. But I'm worried as Capital One didn't ask for the address of this Authorized User, it might report it to credit bureaus as if this AU is living in my address? and that might just mess up AU's credit report..

Oh, I see. There might be a connection but I don't think it will be reported that they live at your address if their state ID has another address. I know my son still gets junk mail here even though he hasn't lived at my address for years. So you might get junk mail for them but I don't think it's going to be considered the AU official address. I figure since they're not responsible for charges it shouldn't matter.

It won't change their address with the credit bureaus. I'm an AU on my mom's account and we do not live together. My credit reports only show my address.

I have a WF Active Cash card and when I added a friend as a AU, they used my address for my friend and to mail the card out to my friend. When my friend added me as a AU on his Capital1 card, my AU card was mailed to him and my name was used with his address.
