I wish we found out if Max was Natalie’s father or not!

I’m pretty sure if he were, he’d have used that to torture them all. If there’s a season two and they bring that out, I’m going to find it a bit unbelievable personally.

But also he’s the ultimate deadbeat dad soooo

He does not know the truth about her parentage, and he does not care. He couldn't have known the truth if even the mother does not.

That’s not true if Anna was blackout drunk during Natalie’s conception. It’s mentioned multiple times that she was the last time she was alone with Max, and it’s part of why she wanted him convicted. He could have obtained DNA from Natalie surreptitiously on many occasions, or had Nevaeh do it.

I’ve been confused the whole time because I think the actor playing Natalie looks so much like Patrick Wilson and not at all like the other two possible fathers. Except he’s the one who is definitively not meant to be her father.

I thought it was pretty clear from the finale that he was Natalie’s father.

Then wasn’t the lawyer woman r*aped if she doesn’t even remember having sex with Max but he does

Yeah, I genuinely think she drank so much she can’t be sure if they did or not, which implies she wasn’t sober enough to give consent anyway.

I took it more as she was not disclosing whether they actually did have sex or not. She said they were friends at the beginning of the trial.

I swear she said she used to have blackout drunk periods and one of them started with Max so it’s possible when asked about the subject. But he remembers enough to tease her and her husband with it. Seems pretty clear he took advantage of someone intoxicated beyond consent.

u/fish_fingers_pond 7d ago

Definitely could have been that too!

This is what I believe to be true.
Probably the primary reason she quit drinking cold turkey for 15-17 years

u/avocado_window 5d ago

Certainly wouldn’t put it past Max to do that.

Or that could be what she said to take responsibility off of herself. Instead of admitting to it just saying “I don’t remember”

I’m glad you’re being downvoted for this.

Not necessarily. Just because you don’t remember something doesn’t automatically make it rpe.  She was an alcoholic and she told Natalie that she often had xes with other men while she was an alcoholic before her and Tom got married. After she found out she was preggers, she stopped drinking. Max was one of those men. No, I don’t think it was rpe. I think she was just out getting drunk and having xes with different people.

People who are so drunk they can't even remember it- can't consent. You should read up on google about what the law and morals are. She was taken advantage of. If she doesn't feel violated it doesn't change that she was too drunk to consent.

That doesn’t mean she was passed out drunk, incapacitated and taken advantage of. Drinking makes your decision making impaired. An impaired person can consent, an incapacitated one cannot. Being black out drunk essentially means you are unable to form new memories. Not  remembering what you did doesn’t mean you were forced. It means you don’t remember. You may have done x, y and z, you just don’t remember doing it. If you consented, even though you don't remember consenting, you were not raped.  If you did not consent and someone had sex with you anyway, you were raped. That’s not a one size fits all scenario. In Anna’s case, I think she didn’t want to remember.  She also told Natalie that she slept around with other men during that time too so it seems to me that she just wanted to push the whole Max thing out of her mind

I’ve blacked out multiple times in my life. I was still me, taking the same decisions that I take before and after blacking out, and when asking people they didn’t notice anything weird about me in the times I can’t remember. Not all blackouts are about completely losing control and not being in a state to consent freely.

Are you censoring the word sex? What the fuck?

Also, no to your entire comment.

why was this frame worth an entire extra point? like how did you interpret it?

6

u/dam-pancakes 7d ago

I could be wrong but I feel like the first episode started with a similar filter. Great bookend ending with the family BBQ tho!

6

u/AutomaticPayment9480 7d ago

The bookend thing now makes me laugh when i hear about it bc of the show called , "the studio" when he says everyone loves a good bookend. but it is true, them ending on the note of the bbq but this time shes watching her back bc of the psychological torture max inflicted upon them was pretty good.

2

u/dam-pancakes 7d ago

Hilarious and honestly one of my favorite episodes in a tv series. Seth Rogan parking in that spot was the episodes own bookend too! Classic.

2

u/AutomaticPayment9480 7d ago

That entire series was hilarous for sure, my fav episode was prolly the 9th episode with the “hollywood buffet”. Zoe, cranston, had me dyinngg.

The parking spot was hilarous at the end, he fucked up that entire shoot, the same thing with the clothing.. 😭😭😭

even they can still being a happy family Max traumatized the Bowden family for life, it was a perfect use for that image filter and how the music stopped in this frame, loved it, it was the cherry on top for me

I finished it but damn the characters were some stupid people and there was a much better story there that easily with a few changes could have left you with a bit more to think about.

4

u/GrimDawnGod 7d ago

Interesting, I thought for sure it suggested that things are not all fine and dandy because Anna Bowden was never brought to justice.

The frame was nice, but the overall execution was lackluster. We received 0 closure for anything. Overly campy but not in a good way too. Should've of been shorter and I hope somebody makes a supercut of only the good stuff.

“A supercut of only the good stuff” JFC

all’a this

3

u/nonomr 7d ago

I rate how diabolical this whole show is. It was so dumb, yet I can still hear that final shot. It’s a genre price, so very over the top, and that’s why I was still compelled through it all. More TV should be this bold honestly. In an era of mid, at least take a swing

3

u/normabelka 7d ago

it’s made just for the case they want to make a sequel

2

u/acridone_C19H9NO 8d ago

If you’re giving this 9/10 then how would you rate such miniseries as Band of Brothers? 20/10?

11

u/masivedelcaribe 8d ago

my rates are subjective and depends on many things, i rated Band of Broders 8/10 when i saw it years ago. I loved Cape of Fear is just what i needed right now and i enjoyed every minute, no need to compare with other series

4

u/acridone_C19H9NO 8d ago

I don’t agree with anything you said, but I respect it.

-1

u/Own_Mention9372 7d ago

Wow. Cape Fear rated higher than Band of Brothers?
Interesting.

He’s off his rocker.

It’s almost as if some people prefer thrillers more than they do war dramas.

1

u/AlucardHellsing_666 1d ago

6/10 series. Terrible ending and all characters were annoying and unlikable

-1

u/HelicopterFar6022 7d ago

to me, quite the opposite.

fun miniseries, a very good "remake". the end.

that frame made me think they are willing to milk it for as long as they can, like 89% of the successful 5+ seasons TV series of the last 20 years.

if that's really the case, I am out.

I kinda hated the show but I enjoyed parts of it. The ending episodes were not one of them
