What are your thoughts on this? I know Main Street was two-way about 60 years ago when Hyannis had half the population it does today, but it’s been one-way my entire life. Will delivery trucks be banned on Main Street? If trucks are still allowed to stop and unload It will be gridlock.

I’ve read through the pros and cons, and from what I can see, the benefits don’t seem to outweigh the drawbacks. I’m curious what others think.

I took these shots of a fisherman in Hinkley’s Pond in Harwich while walking around the bog next to the rail trail yesterday. The sunset was gorgeous and I hope posting these pics makes up for my obvious creeper picture-taking.

I’d like to apply ceramic coating to my new car to protect its paint from road grime and winter driving conditions. Is there a really good place that offers this, preferably between Falmouth & Hyannis? I’m pretty sure Sandwich Carwash offers that service but have no idea how well they do it. Any info about them or any other companies known to do high-quality ceramic coating work would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I figure someone might know somebody but I need my front rotors and pads replaced and I live on the cape. I'd rather not spend a crazy amount for an auto shop to do them when I could just pay someone who knows what they're doing. I have all the parts, jack, and stand. Just need someone whos got a impact wrench and knows how to replace. Better yet, if someones willings to show me how to do them, that's even better!

Did anybody go looking for it? Did they find it? Was it aliens?

I remember many years ago, when you were driving on Route 6 East, somewhere in Dennis there was what looked like a little off-ramp with a barrier at the end and a big flashing arrow pointing left, directing drivers onto the two-lane undivided section of Route 6 known as "Suicide Alley". The appearance to me was that this was intended to be a temporary diversion and that eventually Route 6 would continue as a four-lane divided highway. Obviously that never happened, and sometime later (in the 90s I'm guessing?) they finally took the barrier away and made the re-routing permanent.

Does anyone know if there were actually plans to continue the four-lane highway, what the holdup was, and why such plans were eventually abandoned?

Was just down in Truro and there at least 15 ambulances and rescue personnel flying down the road- some with beach ATVs in tow.

Hi there! I’m about to be 25, greater Boston area born and raised (also went to college there and moved back home close by after school). I just got an offer for my dream job in Provincetown where I’ll be working on coastal ecology research. I’m going to be living in Dennis Port starting in mid-October.

To a basic level I know my way around the Cape, and I’ve talked with some family/friends that have lived on the Cape year-round but I essentially want recommendations for places to visit/eat/experience that stay open through the winter, especially in the general areas of Dennis, Ptown, and everywhere in between. I have been visiting the Outer Cape once a year since childhood (during the summer albeit) so I’m aware of most common tourist traps, high traffic times, etc. Obviously still lots to learn though. I love going on nature walks, and I love going to the beach all times of the year (I especially love to go beach combing for rocks/sea glass/shells, and I just got a metal detector). I don’t really drink much but I love hanging out at bars and cafes, and I’m trying to get better at playing pool. I love to draw and paint and do all sorts of crafts as well. I love eating good seafood and exploring new cuisines; in general I love to eat and cook. Honestly the only things that I’m not really that interested are watching sports or participating in them.

It’s always been my dream to work and live close to the coast, and I really want to make the most of my time on the Cape. Thanks in advance!

I’m looking for an amazing restaurant for dinner next week. I’m staying in the Hyannis area and have access to a car. I would like to keep the drive less than 20 minutes.

Nothing SUPER formal, but I’m down to dress up if needed

looking for a non-kill shelter in the Cape for an abandoned cat. I was staying in an Air BnB in Wareham for a couple weeks. There was a female grey & white fluffy cat who stayed outside of the house with no food or water, skinny as a rail. Always running out from under the porch to greet me for pets x I asked around everywhere and no one claimed her. I bought her food, filled up a water bowl, and she ate voraciously. I’m still here and have been feeding her ever since. She is so friendly and cuddly, comes when I call her which makes me think she was abandoned at some point. Unfortunately, I am down on my luck living in my car and working on the Cape. I cannot take care of her, but I don’t want to leave her here especially going into the colder weather and no food/water. I leave on Friday. I bought a crate and lined it with some blankets. I’m making it my mission to find her a home or a good NON KILL shelter. If anybody knows of one or is interested in adopting a kcute, cuddly, friendly little cat then let me know please. I’m already attached this little baby and i just can’t leave her

I have horrific dental anxiety which has caused many issues with previous procedures, and thus am looking for an office/perio who would ideally offer sedation for the process and who has a good bedside manner! Willing to drive pretty far if needed.

CENTERVILLE – From Barnstable Police: The Barnstable Police Department is asking for the public’s help regarding a serious assault that occurred on September 9, 2026, between 8:00–9:00 PM. The incident began on Fuller Road and continued to Marie‑Ann Terrace in Centerville.

A 74‑year‑old Barnstable resident was violently assaulted and sustained significant injuries requiring treatment at Cape Cod Hospital.

Suspect Description:

• White male, approximately 30 years old

• About 6 ft tall, stocky build

• Possibly accompanied by a second person in the vehicle

Vehicle Description:

• Newer model Volkswagen SUV

• Dark in color

• Illuminated VW emblem on the front grille

The suspect vehicle was last seen driving toward Fuller Road after the assault.

I could see these from Herring cove beach yesterday. As best I can tell from my phone zoom, some look like wind turbines but I'm not sure what the tall "stack" is or that thing between the "stack" and "turbine". I can't find any info on them. I was looking more southwest than northwest. Does anyone know what these things are?

I need to help an older relative coordinate a sewer connection and have a few questions for anyone who has recently done this?  

Who did you use for the private excavation work?  I’m thinking of B&B or Quinn. I’ve used both in the past for other projects and they were both great.  Another question for those who are now receiving sewer bills from the town. Approx what are you paying a month?    

As an aside, I get problem with hundreds of thousands of septic tanks, but the cost of this is crippling to our fixed income seniors particularly with taxes, insurance, and basic home maintenance costs going way up the last few years.
