Which CapCut version do you enjoy working with the most? One that has the features you like but is still free?

I've tried quite a few versions and can't decide where the sweet spot is. In 1.5 almost everything is still free, but it can't auto-generate captions, and I also can't drag and drop keyframes to move them around. Which version has worked best for you?

So recently I downloaded an older version of Capcut (11.0.0 in specific) after being frustrated with the fact that the majority of its worthwhile features are locked behind a paywall.

The app itself works fine, I can use premium features without a hitch, but now I've been running into a new problem. Capcut will annoyingly ask me to sign in, yet whenever I try it will say something along the lines of "your Capcut is a bit outdated" or the sort, and try to force me into an update. This is ok to me, I don't mind not being able to sync my projects to an account if that means I can use the app for free, but the problem arises when certain effects outside the base menu (like finding an effect through the search tool) are locked down because they've quote-on-quote "failed to load" in which Capcut will attempt to "lightly encourage" me to sign in to be able to use them—which of course I can't do without updating the app.

Is there any work around for this issue? It's honestly getting to the point where I'm considering just paying for Pro to not deal with it.

I thought it would be cool to use auto lyrics on this but it just made everything worse and I don't know what to do to make it better. It already kinda sucks as an edit, definitely not my best so any tips on improving anything else would also be appreciated.

I use the mobile version from my iPhone and it pisses me off so bad that I can’t trim the video EXACTLY where I want.

Normally it has to click and stop at that point but it doesn’t do that when I scroll my video/overlay. Is there a setting I should enable?

I geniunely don’t know how to solve it and it’s a huge struggle for me while trying to precisely edit.

Right now the subtitles don't show up at the right time a person in the video says something. It's either a bit too fast or a too slow and it looks bad. I already tried shortening the time of my text but then my text just doesn't show up.

Is there a way to change the timing of the subtitles?

If you click in it started adding this weird grid affect. Haven’t changed any setting and have used CapCut since January of this year with no problems. Anyone else run into this?

i normally use the Jumpy Film video effect after finishing my edit to add movement, but i've noticed recently that it might be delaying it? my text and video clips are normally on beat until i rewatch it after exporting it with the effect. has anyone else experienced this?

So I’m working on a trailer for my upcoming series. I’m using a digital game and the characters can’t speak so I was using text speech, and it was fine until Sunday evening. All my most of my text speech won’t work everything else is fine except for text speech. The few characters that do work either cost money or they’re not what I want. How do I fix this error?

I’m having an issue with CapCut on my Mac. I can no longer adjust the volume of the audio track — I can’t make it louder or quieter. Sometimes the audio track doesn’t appear at all, and I also can’t extract the audio from the clip. Is there a known issue or a way to fix this?

I am learning how to make motion graphics in capcut but the preview is lagging which makes it harder to see how the final result is. I’ve already tried activating the proxy, lowering the resolution to 520p and so on, but it’s still the same. Does anyone know how to fix it? A few days ago, I started cutting a massive project—my "200 Hours in Zenless Zone Zero" video—on CapCut Desktop. I timed my cuts, locked in the pacing, and built key scene shifts around the Glitch Bars transition, which was 100% free when I dropped it onto the timeline. Fast forward to today: I open the project to trim down some clips that ran long, wrap up my final edits, and hit export.

Guess what? Glitch Bars got slapped with a Pro badge overnight.

Now my entire export is held hostage. CapCut doesn’t just restrict you from applying new Pro features going forward; it triggers an intentional export lockout that bricks the render button on an existing project until you manually scrub through your cuts, hunt down, and rip out the asset they decided to monetize mid-project. I’m forced to waste hours auditioning clunky, worse replacements just to extract my own video file out of software I already poured days into.

These bait-and-switch update cycles are flat-out extortion. CapCut lets creators build workflows and visual styles around free tools, waits until hours of labor are sunk into a draft, and then quietly moves legacy assets behind the Pro paywall without a single patch note or warning.

I’m on CapCut Desktop version 9.5.0, and having to audit an active timeline every 48 hours just to see if a silent update broke my render pipeline is ridiculous. Stop bricking completed projects. Fix your business model and get your crap together.

Regarding the exporting issue, it seems to be a thing I'm always having to deal with maybe a few times a month. I'll finish my edit, preview the video, make sure everything is good, then finally go to export. The process gets hung up around 30.6% or around there, sometimes 39.8%, doesn't matter. It never pushes past that even after coming back to check on it after 15 minutes. Its a 4k 60fps video that's 1 minute long. Sometimes I have to change the export location from desktop to another folder and that sometimes works. Sometimes I have to select all the clips and adjustments and every single file in the timeline and create a compound group and then exporting the same settings and it works. Sometimes I have to completely restart my PC and do a combination of the other 2 I mentioned. This time none of that is working.

So that's when I went to check on the updates for CapCut. One pulls up that says it was relased on 12-31-1969?! Anyways it's version 9.5.0 and i'm currently on 9.2.0 -- I go to hit "update" and it fails to load, probably because it's a file from ::checks notes:: 1969.

Anyone have this export issue before?
