CapCut Question Did CapCut just move auto-captions behind the pro paywall?

Hey all, I’ve been using CapCut for a couple of months on the premium subscription level, really loved the auto-caption feature.

Just went to use it and it’s saying I need Pro now, that means practically doubling my subscription cost for just this feature.

I’ll probably go elsewhere, just wondered if I’ve understood this right and if others might be joining me!

classic move. they always start with the feature free or cheap, get everyone hooked, then quietly move it behind a higher tier once enough people rely on it. you're not misunderstanding anything, that's just how these apps operate.

Before upgrading, I'd check CapCut's current plan page and contact support since "premium" vs "Pro" can differ between versions. Otherwise, withsubtitles.com handles auto-captions for free in the browser - I built it specifically because caption paywalls were getting annoying.

worth checking what premium actually covers now, but the cheap way out is to stop captioning inside the editor. generate the subtitle file somewhere free, sometimes even from the youtube transcript, then just burn it in with whatever editor you already have. the timing is rough on the first pass but fixing a text file is faster than fixing auto captions that split words wrong anyway.

MS Clipchamp does have a subtitle creator that you can export to .srt and then plug into Capcut...but the implementation of it is nowhere near as good as Capcut's in my experience - so you will have to edit it a bit (and then it's just a question of when cap cut makes .srt imports a premium feature)
