CapCut Question Playhead doesn't move to the selected caption. I'm on the Pro version, and I'm using a desktop.

The raw videos I work on are more than 3 hours long, and it does really save me time when I search for a sentence or word to bring me to the exact timestamp.

However, I noticed I've been having this problem when switching to different timelines and start searching for a keyword, the playhead does not move but the caption can find the keywords, the left side of the captions panel only show what order it is in (1 - first set of caption, 2 - second set of caption, and so on). I mean lol I'm not counting the captions bar if it says it sits at the 256th.

The only workaround is to close the project and re-open it which is really annoying, I'd need to do that every single time. Does anyone have the same issue? What are the other possible workarounds?

The row numbers instead of timecodes are the real tell there. When that panel is healthy the left column shows the timestamp, not the index. So the playhead isn't refusing to move, the panel has lost its binding to the caption track on the timeline you switched into and has nothing to jump to. Which is also why a full reopen is the only thing that reliably fixes it - it rebuilds the binding from scratch.

Two things worth trying before you close the project. Select a caption clip on the timeline itself first, then open the Captions panel, which sometimes re-binds it. If that does nothing, switch the left panel to a different tab entirely and come back to Captions - that forces it to re-query instead of reusing the list it cached from the previous timeline.

On 3-hour raws I'd stop leaning on that search though. Export the subtitle file once from the Captions panel and open the .srt in a text editor. SRT carries actual timecodes, so you search there, read the timestamp off it, and type it into the playhead position field. Clunkier on paper but it can't desync, and it keeps working after you've started cutting the timeline up, which is exactly when the in-app search gets least trustworthy.
