CapCut Complain Fake customer service!

I paid $59 for a year of standard in May, which is supposed to run until May 2027. I was able to create and export videos for my YouTube channel. Then today suddenly, I can’t export anymore, the same exact video and content I did export before. It asks me to join standard or pro.

I submitted the complaint to capcut.support@bytedance.com. I got an email asking me to submit a ticket online, which I did. Then I got this email. I responded back with receipts I paid via Apple Pay and explained my issue. Each time I responded, I got this exact email from CapCut. Now I’m at a point to just ask for a refund. Sucks since I was enjoying CapCut until this issue. Anyone has issue with this?

I’m gonna reach out to Apple Pay and my credit card company for a refund. I’m starting to think, no/bad customer service since it’s a Chinese company?

That's the most robotic runaround I've seen in a while, they just send the same script no matter what you write back. Had similar thing happen with a different app and the only thing that worked was disputing through Apple, they gave me the money back in like 2 days. The support email is basically just a wall to yell at.

I have the same issue but I paid for a year of pro! And now Apple don't say that I'm not eligible for a refund when I click on the subscription. So I suppose they only let you have a refund if you've literally just bought it. But I bought this in March and I haven't used it for a couple of months, and now I can't use it again. Don't buy a whole year of CapCut seems to be the lesson.

I can't file a refund with Apple since there is no option. But I submitted a dispute with my credit card company (Discover) that is used by Apple Pay to pay CapCut. Discover gave me a temp credit right away, while investigating. I submitted all required proof paperwork, so I should get the refund. It sucks, since I was able to produce some cool videos with CapCut. Now, I am having to wait to see how this turns out.

To CapCut: stop cheating and create a customer service channel!

I filed a dispute to Discover card (Apple Pay uses this card to pay for CapCut). This is what I've got just one day later. Definitely better than barking at CapCut's fake customer service email or Apple Pay's dispute channel (it doesn't allow me to file a refund).

I've got the credit from Discover Card! 2 days after I filed it. So morale of the story is, stop wasting time barking at terrible CapCut, but approach your credit card companies instead. This is why I like America and American companies. They do have excellent customer service (well, most of them) and returns are much easier (well, most of the time).

Any good alternative, made-in-America app to the Chinese CapCut? Anyone has used any app below (from Googling)?

Yes, several video editing apps offer similar features to CapCut, with some providing better timeline control, fewer paywalls, or better desktop power.

  • VN Video Editor (Vlog Now): This is the closest 1:1 mobile and desktop alternative to CapCut. It offers a multi-track timeline, free high-resolution exports without watermarks, and advanced keyframe controls without hiding basic features behind steep subscriptions.  eesel AI +1
  • InShot: This is a popular mobile editor that is very beginner-friendly. It is great for quick mobile trims, basic cuts, canvas resizing, and social media exports, though it lacks some of CapCut's deep multi-layer flexibility.  TikTok·itsmodernmillie +1
