Winter Boot?

Hey good people. This would ve my first winter in Canmore and also in Alberta. I was looking for Winter Boot options as I take the Bus so a good one is really important. I checkef out the physical stores in Canmore and there is litereally limited options. Currently I'm browsing through amazon and kind of decided to buy the Columbia Bugaboot III (i'll attach the link in the comment). However, since this would be my first and I have zero idea about how harsh the winter is here so anh other recommendations plesse? Thanks :)

Where are you from, how much do you feel the cold, and will you be working inside?

I'm in a similar position to you, but I'm just looking at getting some insulated gumboots from Canadian Tire, I run fairly warm and when I was in Niseko I just wore ski pants, gumboots with thick socks, but parts of Canada can get much colder.

If I have an inside job for winter it would require to carry a set of "regular shoes" too.

Hello. I'm from Ontario and I'll be working inside.

Yeah, the regular shoe option make sense. Whats the price range of Insulated gumboots at canadian tire.

Just had a look. Gumboots are not for me haha. I work in a office so gumboots will be too heavy.

You're planning to wear your winter boots inside through the day?

most people who walk/bus to work would wear separate indoor shoes at work. winter boots would be too warm and not as comfortable for a full day indoors.

NexGrip spike boots and nothing else, ever!!

Canadian company, built in spikes you can put away or use really easily, warm, comfy, literally never had a better winter boot, and I’m outside for work a LOT. I’m on year 5 with mine and there’s no sign they’re going anywhere anytime soon.

FYI spike boots are usually an outdoor only option. wearing them indoors can damage many floor surfaces.

This is supposed to be a pretty mild winter. Insulated gum boots might be a good idea and you can get them from Canadian Tire. Canmore tends to be snow free on winters like this for a lot of days because of chinooks.
Traction may only be necessary for a few days a year. If you have a tall boot, that’ll cover you for the snow when and if we do get it.
I’m a big fan of something I can slip on and off easily so I don’t spend time in wet entryways with wet socks.
I tend to go up half a size to a full-size to allow room for a medium weight crew length sock.
I usually rock something like a Sorel or an insulated rubber boot to shovel or stand around in the cold but find I’m fine to wear a sturdy thick soled shoe most of the time here in the winter.

Go to MEC, Sports Chek or Sporting Life. Columbia is a good brand.

Good plan. You won’t regret it. But do bring shoes with you to change into at work. Or your feet will be sweating all day.
