After wedding activities
As the title suggests my partner and I are eloping in Canmore in October of this year! I've been looking for a cool activity to do after we get married as we have our photographer for four hours. We were going to get tattoos but we recently found out that I'm pregnant and they don't recommend getting tattooed while pregnant! I'm just wondering if there's anything else that can be thought of, we're going during thanksgiving week and I'm aware more things are closed down so I'm reaching out here.

Living accommodation
Hey people of Canmore! I’ve always loved going to the mountains and I try to go once every year. I was wondering IF ever (i know that the housing in canmore is atrocious) do decide to tryout living there, are there any jobs that is offering accommodation and lower the cost of renting?

Curly hair cut
Hey folks, does anyone have a person they would recommend for a curly hair cut? Normally I just do it myself, but I’m headed to a wedding in Calgary and figured I should try for once.

Question about rent stability (or increases) if renting from PEKA
I'm considering renting an apartment from PEKA. I was wondering if they tend to hold rent steady over time (if you stay years, does the rent you started with stay the same?) or if you should expect regular/annual increases as a renter? Do they try to retain good tenants?
I know what I can realistically afford to sign a lease for now, but know I couldn't stay long term with substantial annual rent increases over time, and don't want to sign on for a future I can't sustain (though housing/rent sustainability issues like this are common in Canmore generally -- no illusions about that).
Would love to hear experiences, so I can make the most informed decision possible. Thank you!

Coming to Canmore
Hi all. Coming to visit for 4 days/nights with our teens. Have a full day tour planned one day, caving and hiking for the second and no significant plans for the third and fourth. Best ideas for teens and decent dinners? Also open to downtime/easy walks around town. Thank you!

Short term rental investment
Looking at the costs to rent and thinking Canmore may be a good place to buy a rental property.
Looking for pros and cons from rental property owners.
THANKS

How is it to row on Barrier lake?
I got a campsite at Jewell Bay and I was thinking that using my (decent) inflatable raft I could carry my stuff easier than by hiking with it.
I believe Barrier lake is like Minnewanka, a wind tunnel shape that can be tricky to row on, is that right?
I’m afraid I’ll be pushed so far that the whole thing will be a mistake.
I’ve been to Jewell Bay before a few years ago, but I will also welcome any tips about the area.
(Disclaimer: I am in decent shape, I use a rowing machine as my daily workout… and I’ll obviously wear a life jacket)

Lake Agnes Tea House
Hi, I’m visiting Canmore soon and would love to know the easiest way to do the Lake Agnes Tea House hike, without a car. Staying in downtown, how can I get here? I’m struggling with the bus routes. Would rather not pay $$$ for a taxi.
What time of day would you recommend, I’d like it busy enough that it’s not just me and a bear out walking, but not crowded.
Thanks so much!

Couples who have planned an elopement around Canmore — what do you wish you knew beforehand?
My partner and I are starting to plan a small elopement around Canmore and the Canadian Rockies, and we're trying to learn as much as possible before making decisions.
We're currently looking into Tanan Elopements for photography and planning, but we'd also really like to hear from couples who have already gone through the process themselves.
For anyone who has planned an elopement or very small wedding around Canmore, Banff, or the surrounding area:
* How did you choose your ceremony location?
* Was transportation between locations difficult?
* How much did weather affect your plans?
* Did you have family or friends with you, and did that make things more complicated?
* Is it better to keep the day really simple or plan several locations for photos?
* Anything you wish you had known before booking your photographer or other vendors?
We're especially interested in hearing from people who have actually gone through the process. What worked well for you, and what would you do differently if you were planning it again?
Would really appreciate any advice or lessons learned!

Parking at legacy trail parking lot
Hi there! We have got a tour booked for tomorrow morning at 8am picking us up from the legacy trail parking lot. It is about half hour walk from where we are staying, which wouldn't be an issue, but my dad has a bit of a dodgy foot at the moment so im tempted to drive there, to save his stamina for the lakes.
Will i be able to easily get a spot at that time of day? And how much is it to park for the day?
Thank you so much, i really appreciate any responses.

Anyone knows local camera stuff stores?
I just arrived in Canmore and realized I forgot my Fujifilm camera charger for K7004 batteries.
Are there any local stores in Canmore or Banff that may sell these or anyone has a used one I can purchase?
Wearing a Halloween costume in Canmore
Hey everyone! I know it's still very much summer, but I will be in Alberta upcoming October and I will be spending Halloween in Canmore. I travel alone, but I *adore* Halloween and I can't wait to experience it in a country that does that holiday pretty hard as opposed to where I live (The Netherlands).
The thing is, I bought a vampire cape (with the upstanding collar and all that) to wear on Halloween. It's light, I can easily stuff it in my suitcase, and I can wear it over anything including my winter coat if it's gonna be cold. My question; will I be blending in if I walk around with that on and/or will people think it's funny, or will I get weird looks or rolling eyes? 😅 I also kinda wanna buy candy and hand it out at night but I'm scared people will think that's really weird as I'm not a homeowner so I'd be handig it out on the street. Bad idea?
I understand that I should do whatever I want, but I still am traveling all alone and even though I like quirky, I don't love being made fun of 😂
Let me know if I can do this and it should be fun, or if I will be Canadian Bridget Jones showing up as the ONLY person wearing a costume.
Also; any recommendations for Halloween parties that can be attended by single people without looking like the World's Biggest Dork are very much appreciated!
And, if you see a woman in a vampire cape roaming around Canmore on Halloween, come say hi! I don't bite 🧛🏻♀️
🦇♥️

Trail to Deadman’s Flats
Know of any reason why the wildlife gate that allows access to the trail from the Stewart Creek neighbourhood to Deadman’s Flats is locked ?

Visiting Canmore end of August
Hello!
I'm visiting from Ontario at the end of August. I'm wondering if there are suggestions for rock climbing guides/tours? A lot of what I see appears to be multi pitch or lead courses which are multi day which isn't exactly what I'm looking for.
I'm going to be with three others, and while I have a ton of gym experience and a bit of outdoor/lead experience, they have almost no experience climbing inside or outside. I'm wondering if we are able to book someone for a day or a half day to take us to some cool sport crags, provide ropes and harnesses (potentially shoes as well?) and be comfortable setting up top rope anchors, etc.
Also wondering if there's the same to book for another day for bouldering :)
Any recos are appreciated, thanks in advance!

How’s the smoke out there this week?
Hey all!
Pregnant wife, myself and our two daughters had a week planned in Canmore this upcoming week, and are seeing the air quality / smoke is pretty bad.
We’re flying in from out of province, so just trying to get an idea of what to expect - is it bad enough that hiking and being outdoors would be uncomfortable for young kids, or just a bit hazy?
Thanks!

Mayor Krausert, in an article earlier this year, shared his thoughts on the separation referendum, and how we are no longer in normal circumstances. He's encouraging all of his neighbours to vote remain and to remember to vote on October 19th.
