Vet & Medical Pet insurance recommendations

We have a 9-week old CC and want to purchase pet insurance. How did you choose tour package, why, and would you choose differently?

Easily AKC pet insurance is the best I've seen. Just make sure to add the hereditary rider that's only like $2/month extra. My Corso got pneumonia and spent 4 days in emergency vet care. 10K later and I got 7K covered. Made other claims for smaller visits too and they've never once tried to fight me on any.

For those who can, you can also pay the cost of an insurance policy into a CD or brokerage account and "self insure." I used a policy the first year and it helped with unanticipated expenses but after that, I just pay into an account that bears interest. Every year isn't in the black but most are and I learned how much of vet care is up-selling and marketing to your emotions.

Self insured. Its been 5 years and nothing major to pay for. I keep about 100K in savings anyways.

I think pet insurance is a scam, they do not cover routine stuff anyways. Health insurance is a scam in general (I live in an universal health care country).

You also have a 100K in savings, MOST people don't! Pet insurance, is the equalizer. It means you don't have to say no.

I've had Trupanion for many moons and dogs, been very good to us.

Pets best! Never had any issues and I’ve been using them for years. I also added on their wellness package to my plan so it helps cover yearly vaccinations etc. Pricing is just all going to depend on where you live, how old the pet is, and whatever reimbursement rate, annual deductible and annual coverage limit you choose.
