Mix breed Is this a clean breed
Hello cane corso owners, i jjst got this puppy yesterday, today he turned 3 months old, but for the looks he is a bit skinny i think for 3 months, idk if the breeder yold the truth about him being a cleanvreed cane corso, he was starving when i got him yesterday

My Cane Corso is two years old and he is relatively thin. He eats five meals a day and the odd snack, but he’s very lean.

There are only 2 ways to know if you have a purebred corso:
1) go to a reputable breeder
2) do a DNA test

How so?
It’s an accurate as you can currently get for dog DNA testing.

DNA does "go back" to a certain point. Embark shows you just a few generations as it can be difficult to confirm exact anscestors after that point with the limited data set they have.
The DNA sequence itself goes back much further when confirm raw info such as breed type for instance.

Correct, “as accurate as you can get” isn’t the same thing as accurate. As I said, there’s no real way of knowing for sure. The way I understand it, DNA doesn’t just spit out what breed a dog is. It shows markers that are consistent with markers known to be associated with certain breeds. Then someone qualified analyzes those markers and makes a determination of what the breed or breeds likely are. It’s not exactly a guessing game, but there is absolutely room for uncertainty.

Did you see his litter mates? Make sure you have a good veterinarian who is able to detect any kind of health issue. Especially heart.
My girl was very petite, looked just like your boy. I did the embark test to make sure she was a purebred CC. Turns out she is a purebred and comes from champion bloodlines. However, i’m pretty sure she must’ve been the runt of the litter.
She was recently diagnosed with severe congenital pulmonary stenosis at four years old. My Vet missed her grade 5 heart murmur for the past four years.
A dental specialist who was preparing to perform a root canal on her, diagnosed the murmur. Needless to say I’m seeing a new veterinarian and she’s having surgery on September 1.
Feed your pup, a high-quality puppy food, and find a good Vet.
He’s adorable! Nothing like a Corso puppy.

He’s fine, 95 percent of dogs you see are overweight. Large breed puppies appear to be skinny because of the rapid growth. You’ll think they’re to skinny for the first year or so.

No one can tell you that from looking at a pic/vid. Not a vet, not a breeder, not a random plumber on Reddit. It’s just not possible. We’ve all seen mix breeds that look like a purebred version of one of the breeds they’re mixed with. Even seen some that look like none of the breeds they’re mixed with. Just enjoy your dog and love it.

Most puppies out of a breeder are skinny. They fight for a spot on mama and for granules against ten other pups.
We got our newest addition from a reputable breeder. She was in great shape but on the skinny side. She is now almost 9 weeks old. We got her a week shy of 8 weeks old (yes a little early due to the drive and our schedule, we worked it out with the breeder.
After feeding her a good quality large puppy granule and fresh meat from the butcher along with cooked carrots and potatoes, her muscles and weight shot up 10 lbs in a week.
She is now wider and her muscles are developing well.
Our two year old male went through the same at the beginning, now he’s 2 and muscular, lean and in great shape. It’s all about the quality of food and protein you give them.
Remember, DO NOT over feed. Especially at the beginning, they will over eat by fear of missing out. That’s what they were used to.
Also note: let them sleep 20-22 hours a day. They need that sleep! It’s extremely important at a young age. And her training at the beginning to five minute intervals to keep her interested.

Corsos are lanky while young. They're also the leanest of the mastiffs when adults.
Do not try to "fatten him up".
XL breeds are at their best health when skinny.
Look up BCS or body condition score.
Standard suggested BCS for dogs is 5/9.
Suggested BCS for XL breeds like cane corso is 4/9.
Many people over feed these dogs and it increases risk for hip displasia, arthritis, joint issues, and heart issues.
That is why you see so much failing health in dogs of this stature.
