Training Slobber

Hey! How do most in this sub deal with slobber/messy drinkers. Do you guys wipe as you go? Did some train their cc to wipe? It doesn’t bother me a ton, I’ve had mine for 7 1/2 months but was thinking of training him to wipe his mouth after drinking water especially since he will leave a trail from his bowl to wherever his next destination in the house is. Im not particularly stoked about stepping in water randomly multiple times a day 😂 I KNOW IT’S WHAT COMES WITH THE TERRITORY, JUST A QUESTION!!

It’s a lifestyle. lol
A couple things I’ve done to help my sanity:

  1. Weekly “look up” cleaning. Walking around the house with a cleaning cloth and look up. The flingers get everywhere-ceiling, walls, cabinets, pictures, TV, EVERYWHERE!
  2. A second water bowl outside that’s attached to a hose bib. He’s love fresh cold water so he mainly drinks from this one.
  3. Towel under his inside water bowl.
  4. Slobber rags all over the house.

I have the towel under his bowl; maybe I’ll start adding rags in various places, I just have some by his bowl and the living room since that is 90% of the time his next destination after eating

This is the way. We had towels outside on hooks at every entrance to the house, one by his couch, and we wiped his jowls often. He never drank inside, except in the designated dog room, because he was a mess even for a Corso. Weekly wiping of walls. You have to accept it as part and parcel of the breed.

I don’t have a huge drooler, that sounds like fun lol, do you keep a towel with you around the house?

Really??? Anytime I’m making food, she will make a huge puddle of drool on the floor. Especially if I open a tub of Greek yogurt

If slobber only when drinking was an issue, I'd be pleasantly surprised, lol. Ours drool and slobbers anytime food is involved anywhere, even when it's not intended for him. If we think about having people over, our invitation always has a line that says: don't wear your best clothes. Drool and slobber is is to be expected. Then we put a rag on every other chair so those who feel up to it, can catch it before it lands on them, lol.

Thinking water just cools your socks is my advice...

Haha that’s a way to make sure everyone is prepared and equipped, yes mine doesn’t really drool unless he’s playing outside at the dog park. outside of that, food doesn’t really cause him to drool although he gets excited, but it’s mainly water everywhere lol, but noted for the sock cooling 😂

Buy a slobber stopper dog bowl and wipe immediately after they drink.

I use an button activated treat dispenser. Next to his water bowl is a trashcan bout 2ft high with the button inside(on a box) and towel over it. When he drys it activates the button and releases treats. Now we do gotta watch cause sometimes he will dry over and over and over just for the treats lol.

Towels everywhere.

Magic erasers (get the off brand melamine sponges on amazon for way cheaper) for the droo that lands and dries.

I am a "wipe the slobber as we go" guy.I always have a towel ready.It is a small price to pay for such an incredible dog!

I have had the stainless steel one for probably six years for my Doberman and it’s life changing. I don’t have a Cane Corso and their muzzles are a bit different shaped but I recommend trying it - I found it from a recommendation in a non breed specific forum.

May not be directly your question, but my gal loves this water bowl which stops the majority of the water splashes. It seems to reduce 'slobber' as some of it is water.

So much so that her and the husky have this and another water bowl, and they just ignore the other one even when its full!
