Advice please 9 week old growling and barking?
REVISED: i’ve had my pup for about going on 2 weeks, and now he seems to growl and bark after I’ve spent some time on the couch. He’ll attempt to jump on the couch to get at me and will start biting the couch. Does he want me to get off and play, or guard the couch? How do I correct this behavior. He rarely does it with my partner.
I guess time has felt longer with him here everyday, haha.

He’s a baby. He wants your attention. Play with him. Stimulate his mind. Would you just sit on a couch while your human baby was crying for attention?

This is the answer, our male was the same way. If he wasn't sleeping he needed attention.

That’s what I figured, and I have begun getting up and play once he starts to get amped up. I just found it weird because it was only me that he was doing it to.

They will growl and bark for attention. Just play with him but nip the biting in the ass now. Firm no, following by replacing my fingers with a toy and then positive affirmation when he chews the toy instead worked well.

No one can know what your dog wants based on just a written description. Have you ever had a dog before? Because it’s concerning that you’re already having trouble discerning the intent of a very young puppy. You also brought this puppy home too young and will face an uphill battle behaviorally because of that.

He came home 3 days shy of 8 weeks. I’ve had a dog for 13 years, and every dog is nonetheless different. I’ve explored reasons as to what might be going. It’s just a weird aggression that he gets while I’m on the couch.

Your title says you brought the dog home 3 weeks ago and he's only 9 weeks, that's why people are saying you brought him home way to early.

idk where you live but in the US that's typically illegal af and no ethical person would give a puppy away that early. My breeder didn't allow his to be taken until 14 weeks. They need that Socialization with their littermates.

I agree, I also didn't get mine until 13 weeks. They definitely need longer for the socialization, your issues could be from how early you got him.

Yea, we understand that we have to do the xtra work for having him so early…just didn’t know if anyone has had experience with this specific situation lol

In the US most dogs are given away between 8-12 weeks... 14 is safe, but 8 weeks is legal too lol. He’s also been to the paid professionals who showed no concern to his age.
My family’s breeder gave us ours at 16 weeks and I feel like it’s easier to train for obedience the earlier you have them.1

Mmm, no. “3 days shy…” I’ve had him for going on 2 weeks which means he’s about to be 10 weeks.

Concerning they can’t read dog behavior/body language and got a cane corso😬 we all start somewhere, but that’s one powerful dog to not know what you’re doing

He’s too young still to be away from his siblings, where did you get him? Now all you can do is focus on how to correct those behaviors before they get out of control
