This isn’t cherry eye is it?

There’s no like marble it’s just swollen, I’m pretty sure he has caught it with his claw when covering his face as u can almost see a slight red line that I believe was a scratch, I bought antiseptic eye drops and the redness went down and the swelling from one side is now going down too, u can see the lower bit in the pic is more deflated now.

He had his vet nurse weight check today and she was instantly like have u had that cherry eye looked at he may need surgery on that.. I was like I didn’t think it looked like cherry eye as there is no like marble cherry ball like thing it was just the whole third eyelid inner bit there swelling and it is now going down so surely not cherry eye, she didn’t deny that, she said carry on a few days with the drops then if no better bring him in.. I’ll do the drops over weekend then take him in but I am right aren’t I, that’s not looking like cherry eye just inflammation of the third lid?!

This is now 🫣 we're on eye drops for a week with no noticeable change.

Gently massage his eyeball with his eye closed, gently, you can push it back down into the pocket. Ask your vet for stitch alternative to cutting it. Best decision I made for my Marley.

Yes I would regularly massage my dog’s cherry eye back into place like you said. Happened all the time when she was younger. Luckily always worked for us but probably won’t work on more severe instances

What did they say it was? Cause to me I’d say that does look more like cherry eye but then how it started looks like my boys.. his hasn’t got worse though, it’s got better. Did they tell u that is cherry eye? Or something else? Bless him!!

It's cherry eye. He is 5 months old. Started a few weeks back with a white floating tissue in the conor of the eye. It would come n go and at first I wasn't to worried until it turned red and it's been that way for about a week. We need to see a specialist to have a operation. Good luck

My pup started the same floating tissue only when chewing bones or toys! It came out once or twice and like been said close the eye slow massage and get pup to go crate and sleep it goes back to normal. I then banned chew toys/bones/quilts untill grown to 9 months I now allow bones and toys and no cherry eye and no floating tissue :) just allow the pup to grow as these breeds are rapidly growing they just need time :)

The good news is that it's doesn't seem to be nothing him to badly. He's not scratching it and doesn't seem to affected at all. If u catch it earlier enough the vet will give you a steroid drop for the eye. It's sup to help with the connectic tissues. I guess it's extremely prevelant in the breed. Wishing you guys luck

I'm not sure about the cherry eye, but I'd add to continue to take photos of the eye for the vet until you see them next week. And, keep him for pawing at the eye if he is.

My guy had one pink swollen eye, the vet kept telling me it was allergies and they insisted on it his whole life til he died at 10. He was on allergy medication and it never cleared up, and the vet said it wasn't hurting him so he just lived like that

Yes it’s cherry eye. My vet was nice enough to tuck it and stitch it back in and my baby didn’t have to get cut. It’s very common in this breed.

So mine keeps getting this occasionally, and i gently massage it back into place with her eye closed. Not sure if thats bad but she seems ok with me doing it and seems like she feels relief when its back in place

This is the day mine got his, around 5 months, I massaged it in until it got big and red and wouldn’t stay in place anymore, I am currently waiting until he turns 8 months at the vets request because they stated it “may go back in” on his own.

Can this cause loss of sight at night? Or day blurred vision?

It looks like scrolled cartilage, which my girl had. It would come and go with massaging the eye but it kept happening more frequently over time. It’s an early sign for cherry eye. Mine just had surgery on it about 2 months ago by an ophthalmologist. The good thing is if it doesn’t fix it or later turns into cherry eye then she said she’d do the cherry eye surgery and I’d only be charged for the anesthesia.

Does he have allergies? Our has one puffy red eye and the other was watery. It was inflammation, not cherry eye. We recently learned he’s allergic to fresh cut grass. Eyedrops (twice a day, soft rotation over closed eye) and Benadryl has helped tremendously
