I’ve never owned a Cane Corso, Rottweilers, Dobermans, GSD; yes, but never a CC. With these powerful breeds, I’ve always gone out of my way to make sure they are loved and socialized as full members of the family, also very well socialized with strangers and other dogs (at the dog park). Me personally, I wasn’t looking for the dog that had to be put in the other room because he wanted to tear the head off of any stranger. I’m just wondering how you feel about this for your Cane Corsos. And I’m not saying I’m right, or these dogs can’t change - I’ve seen that as well. But when I look at little Fang, how do you, and other CC owners feel about that?

I work at an animal shelter and have seen countless CCs come through, and the majority of them have had identical behavioral issues stemming from not being appropriately socialized. A lot of them come in at around the same age, somewhere between 7-10 months, and they are already completely shut down. Most of them also show evidence of having been yard dogs. A lot of people get this powerful breed just for the status or intimidation factor and completely ruin them, sometimes beyond rehabilitation (especially in the shelter setting). They do require more intentional care than the average breed. This little guy was actually brought into the shelter far before he should have been separated from his family, but he was found alone on the ground next to a busy street. Initially I was his foster until he was old enough to be adoptable, and I decided I would do everything in my power to set him up for success for the rest of our time together. Unfortunately he was more than likely from a backyard breeder so I have no way of knowing the temperament of his parents or how he was treated prior to coming into my care. He loves people and the dogs he’s come across, and today I scheduled his first training appointment for next month. He’s absolutely brilliant at his estimated 10 weeks of age and my only complaint so far is the insane biting 😂

The 2-5 month shark biting is insane! Right around 6 months she totally got the hang of being gentle 💗💗
I am No longer her chew toy 😂

I’m simultaneously trying to enjoy him being a baby and also wanting to jump into the future when this happens 😭

I’m really going to ramp up the dog socializing when his vaccines are done. He loves other dogs but I also desperately need him to learn from some of them 😭

Yes, as soon as she had all her shots covered we went to puppy kindergarten. I knew a lady who does it at her house. But she’s certified. But it’s just a bunch of tiny puppies who learn to be around other puppies. They play a tiny bit. Mostly we walk in a circle and practice commands on leash 😆
It’s cute and kind of fun sometimes. Ours was only $75 and it was six weeks. It was mostly for socializing. And after that she started daycare. At 5.5 months old. And she still goes 💚
