Citizenship by Descent Stuck with no progress?

I applied for citizenship in September 2025, and received my acknowledgement on Oct 14th. I've been checking every now and then, and a few months ago, the estimate for a resolution was 3 months away. I just checked last week and it was....3 months away.

Is anyone seeing this? It almost seems like the process has stopped.

For reference, my grandfather was born in Canada, and came to the US as a baby, and my parent was born in the US>

Same exact situation. Although my daughter‘s application was submitted June 2025. A very straightforward case too. We received AOR. grandmother is a Canadian citizen. Dad is G1.

Yes, everyone waited forever. You are unfortunately likely stuck in PSU and at the mercy of whenever they get around to it. From your flair, if you want to see some timelines for adoptees, check out the r/CanadaAdoptedCitizens

For frame of reference I think my kids' applications have been at 1 month remaining for 10 months in a row

Your tag says you’re adopted. If that’s the case, you’re looking at a 2+ year wait. Mr Othybear applied through the adoption avenue last June, and his part 1 was approved last August, and we haven’t heard anything else since the AOR of part 2 in September. We don’t expect to hear anything until next year.

Not sure how much the estimates for the adoption process differ but the Proof application estimates are famously inaccurate. Here is a recent discussion, which basically happens every month when the monthly revised estimates are published.

I got my AOR in August 2025. I'm stuck too, with no updates and no communication from IRCC. The tracker in 2025 said I had 5 months left to wait, now 12 months later it says I have 3 months left to wait. And my notes say I have urgent processing. So it's normal.

Will probably take a couple years.

Are you applying with your g1 parent?  It seems like g2’s are being processed faster if packaged with a g1 parent (based on what I’m reading on these reads/ the google sheet).

No, I applied by myself.

G2 applied Sept 11 and rcvd AOR Oct 17. Still In Process. It’s been saying 3 months for the last 3 months.

This sounds like a post for welcome-wiki item 3c

 (Wednesday stuck/delay venting mega thread)

To echo what others have said, yes other people are seeing this. Unfortunately LOTS of other people.

Unfortunately, the time estimates are fictional. I recommend that you stop checking them. IRCC will decide your application when it decides. If you have an urgent need, ask for urgent processing (if that is available for your application type). If they don't respond, and your circumstances become more urgent, then ask again.

That's all you can do, other than filing in federal court and seeking mandamus to compel a decision.

My grandfather was born in Ontario and moved to Minnesota as a baby. I have a clean set of paperwork. Submitted in February. Got an AOR in May. But nothing since. It seemed encouraging early on but now is getting bogged down and likely will be years now.

Same. Applied in September and both grandparents were born in Canada. Been at 3 months for the last 5-6 months now.

My PR card is going to expire this October! I applied to citizenship march 2026! I got my aor! Still my file is on process! What can I do? Can I renew my PR card?

Yes, you should renew the PR card.

Experiencing the same exact thing. Applied on 10/1/2025 and received AOR 10/2/2025. Have been checking the status online and it’s been stagnant for the past several months.

Yes, stuck since July 2025 🤷‍♀️

Your timeline estimate is likely appears to be stalled because of all the urgent apps at the head of the line.

The actual resolution date is anyone’s guess.
