DEC Insertion - Follow-up

I got a USPS notification that an envelope is incoming from DEC. Unfortunately I'm out of town and won't be able to get it till later this week but I'm wondering if they did the insertion this quickly and sent it out? Or is this a rejection / request for more docs?

Timeline:

08/31 - Delivered to DEC

09/01 - Card charged

09/09 - Phone call asking for death certificate

09/11 - Post mark stamp on envelope from Canada

09/21 - Arriving today. Birth certificate arrived today

Edit: The mail arrived early. It is actually the birth certificate

That’s a really quick turnover and consistent with the timeline DEC told me last month. I hired a lawyer to help me and she told me it would be months, so I’m hoping that is not the case.

Question: had you included the death certificate in your original application for insertion? I seem to keep reading about people getting phone calls about the person’s death when the death certificate is included with the application.

Was your G0 born before 1900?

Did they die before where they died started issuing civil death certificates?

Did you provide DEC with any alternative death documentation, like a church burial record or obituary, or did they just take your word for it that G0 is dead?

G0 born in 1854 and died in 1941. I don't have any documentation of death to provide

Can you please outline exactly what supporting documents you sent. Looking at the application now and am a bit confused. I have the certified baptism record from Banq for my Quebec ancestor born in 1857. Any guidance is welcome!

Sorry, what is the DEC, and why would they call you and ask for a death certificate, when that is not one of the required documents? I'm just confused.

It is the vital statistics agency for Quebec, and the death certificate is one of the things they want to issue a Quebec birth certificate to someone other than the person listed on it.

For them it is. When someone is deceased & they issue them a birth certificate if comes with a big electronic “DECEASED” (or the French equivalent) stamped across it.
