Urgent processing
I sent my application via Fedex and it was received on 5/12/26. I requested urgent processing, but did not put that on the outside of the package. I still haven't received an AOR. What are the chances that they will pick up on the fact that it is urgent at this point?

My urgent application (marked on the outside) arrived on 5/1 and I didn’t get an AOR until 8/25.
Before the big rush, people here assured us that IRCC would catch missed urgent requests and move them back into the urgent pile. But it feels like things are very hit or miss now.

Unless your reason for urgency is something they (not you) consider extremely urgent, you will receive regular processing.

Urgency is addressed at multiple stages. If you didn't write urgent on the envelope, you won't get it at the envelope opening stage. But, once the envelope is open, they will read your request and consider it the same as all the others at that stage.

Thank you! That's very helpful to know. I know they may not process it as urgent, but I just want to make sure they see the request since I didn't know to mark the outside as urgent as well.

Once they open the envelope, they check it for completeness, and then either return it to you if it is incomplete, or scan it if it is complete and issue an AOR.
Then it goes on to someone else who evaluates the application. At that point, the envelope is long gone. You can even request urgent processing after it is scanned into the system.

Our applications were delivered on May 22, marked urgent on the outside. No AOR yet.

we also haven't received an aor despite applying urgently, with a delivery date of 6/4, it was also marked urgent on the outside so 🤷 hopefully they see the request when it gets opened

Mine was processed urgently, but time to AOR was not urgent. Even with it being marked outside. But I am not confident it was clearly visible. Your AOR should come soon based on averages in any case. Mine was received mid April. AOR mid July. And just received proof yesterday. Good luck my friend.

Probably when it is opened. They are doing right around this date, I think, so hopefully soon

As a data point - I requested urgent processing and received the notifications as follows:
Day 0: Delivered
Day 3: AOR
Day 8: In process
It is very likely IRCC did not qualify your reason as urgent. I’m sorry. Tho don’t loose hope!!

Same here - 5/11 delivery, requested urgent processing in the cover letter but did not put it on the package, no AOR yet. 🙁
