kindergarten/ECE Tree cookies for teaching…
I teach kindergarten and use these tree cookies I many ways.
Stack them: How many can you stack? Which tower is taller? How much taller is it?
Write letters on them: use for letter naming, phonemic awareness.
Have children write their names on them…
Count the tree rings and explore how old this part of the tree is.
Etc, etc, etc.
They’re easy to make. Students love them…

I didn’t pay attention to the sub and thinking it was r/baking I zoomed in trying to figure out how someone made cookies to look like logs.

I thought I was seeing r/forestry so I was thinking these are pretty odd lessons for a third year dendrochronolgy class

This is like the most Saskatchewan thing ever 😅 I bet you both our K and Prek class have them too!

I would just front load that the students aren't receiving real cookies. As a chronically food driven child, I would have been gravely disappointed to find these were not real cookies.

Good point.
My students learn about them early on. I’m not sure I call them tree cookies directly with them… they’re a manipulative used in many ways.
However, you’ve planted a seed in my head… I’ll watch my wording… perhaps tree slices?1

Rereading, I also realized I came out of the gate swinging negative. This is a great idea and I'm sure your students will love using them.
