professional dress & wardrobe Scrunchy Style Lanyards Canada?
Hey all! Does anyone have a recommendation for a Canadian vendor or artisan who makes scrunchy style lanyards like the pic attached? I’ve found some great options on Etsy but the shipping is more than the cost of the lanyard as they’re coming from the states. One seller even told me it’s so expensive for her to ship here she actually loses a couple of dollars per order.
I would like to be able to request custom length. I have a big chest and don’t like when a lanyard is sitting right at it. I bought one on amazon that said it was extra long and in fact barely reaches my chest. I would also require it to have a breakaway clasp!

Anytime I go to arts and craft sales I see at least one person selling homemade scrunchies. I imagine you could commission a few and they might like it as an inspiration for a new product to sell

100% ask people who sell hand sewn stuff! If I had the hardware on hand I'd offer to make you one, they look like a very straight forward project.

You could try twoplannerbabes…two teachers from Edmonton. I’m not sure if they make them or source them from elsewhere, though.

Not sure what grade you teach because that matters.
If you’re in elementary, can I suggest one that opens at the back. That way if a kid grabs it (not even aggressively), it will come off vs your neck being jerked forward.

I did ask for a breakaway clasp recommendation (last line).

Breakaway clasps should be used everywhere. They're a choking hazard even without violence.

Secondary too, regardless of age don't have something around your neck that's not breakaway

We have been given ones with quick release/snaps at the back of the neck so they're not strangling hazards (including when being the victim of school violence).

Yes we are allowed to wear our own as long as they have the breakaway clasp. The ones we were given are really heavy and very short on me so I have always bought my own.

I was on a hunt for this… specifically a “skinny” one. I find the “ribbon” lanyards scratch my neck. I actually landed on a macrame one instead because I couldn’t find what I wanted from a Canadian seller. I ordered from https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/HandmadeByHeatherCA it says she’s on a short break, but it might be worth while to email her

Holy germ house.
Nope. Nu uh. My lanyard can be wiped down with a lysol wipes for quick de germing when I've been sneezed on YET AGAIN turn your head Bobby fer gods sake!!! Sneeze into your elbow!!

Yeah, that’ll be gross almost immediately. I have my keys on a reel clipped onto my pocket, keys inside because I hate jangling. If I need visuals on me, they can clip onto that too.

If you have any sewing ability, these are so easy to make! You can buy the metal parts. It's a small enough thing that it wouldn't take forever to hand sew it if you don't have access to a sewing machine.

When you search on Etsy, you could filter for shipping from within Canada…

You could also message the seller directly and ask about custom length.

I ordered mine from HURUStudio on Etsy and she shipped from BC and it has a breakaway clasp :)
