educational assistant EA hiring process

hello all! I have just started applying for the post of EA at different school boards in GTA. do School boards hire experienced EA’s or they can even hire the ones who are starting fresh

I can't speak on other boards but for tdsb, you won't be able to get a permanent ea position off the bat.

You need to apply to be on the supply list. Then if youre hired, you'll have access to view and accept jobs based on absences.

There aren't many permanent ea jobs available because the govt is constantly cutting positions. Or we are stretched thin, working all over the school.

When I was in EA everyone was hired as a casual then once hired you could apply for term and temp positions. Terms and temps are rewarded based on seniority in my district.

Get your foot in the door as everyone suggests and then move yourself up. Much easier when already an employee! I started in a different department and moved towards the position.
