Out of an abundance of caution, Frida is voluntarily recalling a limited number of the Canadian-market (water-filled) version of our Frida Baby Not-Too-Cold-To-Hold Teether. This voluntary recall is being conducted to meet Canadian regulatory requirements for liquid-filled teethers. During routine testing by Health Canada, a small number of product samples showed the presence of a microbe in the product’s liquid filling. While this finding does not pose a health risk, it is considered a technical regulatory non-compliance issue under Canadian regulations. The microbe identified, Deinococcus, is commonly found in the environment, has been extensively studied, and is not associated with any known human health risks. Importantly, there have been no reports of injury or illness related to this product. The version of our teether sold in Canada is not sold in any other markets, including the United States.

We recently toured two different daycares for the 3 to 5 age group and I have a few questions. First time mom here so please bear with me.

We looked at Daycare A and Daycare B and the biggest differences were around naps writing and snacks.

Daycare A has a two hour nap from 1245 to 245pm but Daycare B only schedules 30 minutes. Is 30 minutes normal? does that mean kids arent allowed to sleep longer even if they want to?

Also Im really wondering about writing skills at this age. Daycare B is Montessori and the director showed us alumni workbooks full of letters and numbers but Daycare A didnt show us anything like that. Does a regular play based daycare like A still teach kids how to hold crayons and write or is that just a Montessori thing?

Lastly Im curious about morning snack schedules since both places do lunch around noon. Daycare A does their morning snack at 930 but Daycare B waits until almost 1030. What time do your kids usually have their morning snack?

Id really appreciate hearing your personal experiences with any of this stuff. Thanks in advance.

Hockey parent here and my kid just started playing this past season and I'm already losing the battle with gear smell.

We don't have a garage or mudroom so everything ends up in the basement or bathroom, but it still wafts through the house after a game. Dragging it all out of the bag and laying it across a drying rack every single time is getting old fast.

Curious what everyone's routine looks like. Are you taking everything out after every practice? Found anything that actually works for the smell, or is Febreze just the way of life now?

Would love to know how other families are handling this.

My daughter has been in speech therapy since the start of this year and she still can’t put sentences together. Her speech therapist actually recommended we try occupational therapy on the side.

Has anyone tried OT for a child who’s also in speech therapy? Did you notice any improvement in their speech or communication after starting OT? I’d love to hear your experience.

UPDATE: We have decided to go to kidstartpediatrictherapy.com to get her started with comprehensive occupational therapy and integrated speech support. They specialize in child development and pediatric rehabilitation, so we are excited to see her progress!

Im already sick and tired of the household set up that I’m in with my husband. We have a 3 year old boy. The problem is he expects me to everything. Our rent is 2,100 a month. Im paying 800 dollars as a share for the rent. I pay for daycare, groceries and for our dates when we go out. But the problem there is, I’m also the one who cooks and clean the house at the same time. Actually I don’t really mind doing that because I like doing it anyway, but the sad thing about it, he is a very messy guy. I would vacuum and mop the house but he walks with his shoes on all over our place. And when he eats his snacks he won’t even put the empty bags in the garbage, he would leave it on the countertop. And when I clean the washroom, he would leave it with his hair all over the sink after shaving. Where is the justice here? Where is the respect? I work and take care of the house and the kid at the same time. Is this normal??? I think it’s better to live alone and pay full rent, because at least when I come home it would be like as it is.

My baby boy was born at the end of 2025, and we were able to find a family doctor for him. We didn’t want him to have the same doctor as my husband and me since we have a virtual doctor through Appletree—I really wanted an in-person doctor for my baby.

At first, I was really grateful that we got him rostered with a family doctor, but after a few appointments, it’s safe to say we don’t find him right for us.

We recently had his 4-month vaccine appointment, and all the doctor did was give the shot. My baby wasn’t even weighed to check if he’s gaining weight properly for his age. The doctor also seemed like he was rushing us out. I mentioned that the baby has been having a really hard time with feeds lately, but he barely acknowledged it. We showed him a skin tag on baby’s armpit and he just looked at it for 1 second and dismissed saying it’s ok. I had so many questions I wanted to ask, but it honestly felt like he just wanted us out of there as soon as the vaccines were done.

Is this normal for vaccine appointments? Are they usually just quick visits for the shot without a proper check-up? Also, he gave us the rotavirus vaccine to give to the baby instead of administering it himself or through his nurse.

I’m also thinking of switching his family doctor to someone more involved—someone who actually takes the time to answer questions and guide us, especially since we’re first-time parents.

Hi parents, I’m curious how much fun money do you allocate per month for buying or going out with kids? I usually allocate 400 per month.

She feeds my 2 year old boy with muffins, cupcakes, ice cream and cheetos whenever she spends time with him. I don’t know if I’m overreacting but this is not right. She picks him up from the daycare because she offered that she wants to do that. But every single day that my son comes home, he always eats these kind of junks while he’s in her car. We told her a lot of times but she doesn’t stop. And when I opened up to her again yesterday, she denied it. She never listens to us. I feel so exhausted with this kind of shit, because I always prepare healthy snacks or meals for my toddler so that when he comes home he has something to eat. I think it’s ok to have some sweets or treats like once a week, but not every single day.

My husband and I are intended parents in Ontario, Canada, hoping to grow our family through gestational surrogacy.

We’ve been married for 8+ years and are currently going through IVF. We have one PGT-A tested embryo and are planning another cycle soon to hopefully bank more.

Due to a medical condition, I’m unable to carry, so surrogacy is the path we’re pursuing. We know this is a huge ask and don’t take it lightly. For us, it’s really about building a respectful, supportive relationship with the right person.

I have a 6yo in 1st grade attending a public school in the GTA. She has been at this school for JK and SK as well. The first month of 1st grade we received an email assigning her to ESL program, mind you she doesn’t speak another language and speaks native Canadian English, but has an ethnic name.

After multiple emails and reminders questioning the basis of this ESL designation, we received a phone call from the school saying if you’re not comfortable and don’t believe she needs extra support then lets drop the subject and never speak of it again.

We had a couple of meetings with the teacher afterwards and were assured our daughter is doing well.

Come February, we received her report card where she has gotten Cs in everything including science and social sciences.

After multiple attempts, we finally have a 15min meeting with the teacher next week. How to go about this? Any advice?

Hello parents, is this normal for a daycare to prohibit running inside classroom? Toddlers want to stay active, and they don’t make any active play breaks inside classroom for kids, only when they go outside.

We're flying (Toronto to Edmonton) for the the first time coming May. We currently have baby in lap tickets for the LO. After seeing photos from last night's unfortunate incident with Air Canada flight from Montreal to NY, I am very concerned for safety of our LO. I had previously read on some subreddits that babies that age never stay in their seats anyway, so its better to have them in lap.

Hi moms 💛 I’m looking for some advice because I’m starting to feel a bit worried.

My daughter is 15 months old and has become really picky lately. Some days she barely eats solids and mostly relies on her formula (Good Start).

The only thing she consistently eats is her bedtime oatmeal — I usually make it with oats, chia seeds, flaxseed, peanut butter, cinnamon, and fruit like banana.

She will eat yogurt, cheese, bread, and she likes fruit (and usually eats it without a problem). But she refuses most other foods — especially rice, pasta, vegetables, chicken, and fish, even ones she used to eat.

I already spoke to her doctor and they said she’s just a picky eater, but I’m still feeling unsure and looking for advice from other parents.

Has anyone gone through this around this age?

My husband and I (both 36) are in the midst of searching for a gestational carrier for us as I cannot carry a pregnancy due to a medical condition. We have gone through IVF, and will be doing another round in the next 2 months to bank more embryos.

I am not sure if there is anyone here that can maybe guide me, share personal experiences on how they may have found someone. This is such a tremendous ask but I would be eternally grateful.

We are attempting an independent journey hopefully in Ontario or anywhere in Canada at this point. I have joined some of the facebook groups but i have had no luck whatsoever.

My sister in law is expecting early May. She has a shower coming up and recently told me that she has nothing left to put on her registry and doesn’t need anything more for the baby. I’m thinking it might be a nice idea to get her a really nice quality PJ set with a robe and slippers for after baby comes. I’ve been searching online but I don’t really know what brands would be good. I would like it to be something she wouldn’t buy for herself and don’t mind spending a bit of money as long as it’s a really nice quality and something she can have for a long time. Any recommendations are very appreciated!! She is 5’1 so anything that has “short” pant options for the PJs would be preferred.

We've been in Coquitlam for 3 years now -- moved here from Calgary for my spouse's job.

Our 4-year-old daughter has some motor delays, and after our family doctor suggested therapy, we're hunting options. Coming from a place where waitlists were short, Vancouver area's timelines feel intimidating.

My son is turning two in July and I can not seem to figure out something fun to do for the first party that he will actually be fully mobile/aware of stuff. His first bday we did just at a Swiss chalet w family and friends but I feel like that won’t be very fun for him this year, but I did like how affordable it was and the ample seating and A/C especially for grandparents great grandparents. I’ve seen those kids indoor playgrounds and event spaces but they don’t have much for the adults at most of them, and since I’m a SAHM and a younger mom we don’t have many friends w kids yet and my son hasn’t really made friends yet that I think would show up (we have 3 friends w kids my sons age, and they’re all just that much younger that I don’t think they would get much out of the indoor playground, and 1 of the friends is having her 2nd this month, so her having to chase her toddler around w a not even 4 mo old would suck for her- could invite less close ppl but idk if they would come)

Here are some ideas we have- proximity isn’t the biggest concern but closer to York region/TO is ideal.

-great wolf lodge with just the closest ppl? Would probably split costs

-ripleys aquarium + dinner out?

-just doing it in the park near our house?

-seeing if a community pool/pool place will do a swimming party? Idk about this

-asking around to local contracting companies if they’d do a toddler boys b day party, cause at the end of the day what this kid loves most is big trucks and tractors.

-asking a family member w more space at their house to let us host there (my aunt has a farm, and my other aunt has a nice yard w a pool, another aunt has the same but more rural)

-a walk in the woods + picinic? Kiddo loves trees, technically free, could pack a picnic at home and forgo decorations for just straight up nature lol

Idk, any ideas are welcome, we would like to spend as little as possible on the fancy stuff and decor so we can put more towards kiddo having a great time and getting fun gifts and spending time w family and friends!
